EPISODE EIGHTEEN
"Yes Jonas, I will marry you."
Her words interrupted his thoughts and he could not believe what he heard "Erm... Please, I didn't get that, what did you say?" He asked with a broad smile.
"I will marry you Mr. Jonas," she repeated. Jonas was over the moon, he stood up and hugged her tightly to himself, not willing to break away. She pushed him away gently and reminded him that they were yet to be married and that he was still married to his wife. Jonas thought that what a disciplined lady she was. After speaking for a while, he left to begin preparations for the divorce between his wife and him since her acceptance of his proposal had given him a good reason to file for an annulment of their marriage. Margaret was contacted and asked to prepare to show up in court following Jonas' visit to a lawyer. Margaret was not happy about this. She begged for her husband's forgiveness but he was not ready to listen to her. On the day their marriage was to be annuled, Jonas and his wife were summoned to court following Jonas' request. "Please my husband, forgive me for what I have done," Margaret pleaded kneeling before her husband with tears in her eyes in the presence of all that were present. "Margaret, it's too late, you deserted me at the time I needed you most. That showed that you did not even marry me because of love. You are not a good wife," he said emphatically.
"It was a mistake on my part, please... "
"No, it was not a mistake, it was a deliberate act to t*****e me. This marriage is going to be annuled this minute," he said pointing his index finger towards the ground to indicate how serious he was about the annulment of the marriage that very day. Margaret pleaded to no avail. Her parents, relatives and other members of her family were all there to plead on her behalf but Jonas stood firm oh his decision. "My son, remember that you took vows to be with this woman forever," Margaret's father reminded Jonas. "Did she remember that we took vows to be together forever, for better for worse? And even when she left me and returned to you, did you tell her to come back to me? Did you remind her that she took vows with her husband to stay with him in sickness and in health?" Jonas fired back. "When things became worse, your daughter broke the vow. It was she who broke the vow not me, so you should be telling her that," Jonas added.
Seeing that Jonas' mind was already made up and knowing that she was actually guilty, helplessly, Margaret allowed for the annulment of the marriage. Jonas was then completely free to marry any other woman of his choice.
Few months later, after series of preparations and marriage proceedings according to custom and religion, Jonas took Lina home as his wife. There was great jubilation in the entire Francis' family and they lived happily ever after but not without Lina always thinking about Allen her beloved and always wishing that he was the one with whom she was embarking upon this journey of life.
