Gwendolyn moved closer to Layla on her desk and face her squarely. "Mrs Grey is down at the corridor. She is dead." She said hiding her anger. "I know. I came here because I couldn't stand to watch." Layla said blankly. "Oh! Okay! I just learnt she is your favourite teacher." Gwendolyn said trying to calm herself down as much as possible. "Of course she was. Now, can you excuse me?" Layla said trying to get up. "Do you mind if I come visiting Layla? Friends visitation. Or what do you think?" "I'm homeless." Layla answered casually as she made for the door and slammed it shut. Gwendolyn heaved. She actually wanted to tell her something else not what she just said. But who knows, she might actually not want to talk about it. She sat down on the chair. Jocelyn couldn't bear the sight. She spent almost ten minutes in the bathroom, vomiting. When she seems satisfied, she walked out of the bathroom only to collide with Lucas. "Hi!" He greeted smiling. "Hey! " she said trying to excuse herself but Lucas go on blocking her exit. "What is the matter?" She asked rudely. "Nothing serious. I just need your help." "My help? I don't give help to people. And I sure don't need help from anybody. " she snapped. "I know you don't need my help. But I need yours. Please." He begged. "You chose the wrong person to sort after. Pal." She said and made an exit for herself. Ever since the encounter with Lucas some hours ago, Jocelyn had realised too quick how fascinate the guy is. But she can't bring herself down so quickly like that. And sincerely, she is here to hunt down handsome guys and make them sleep with her but it seems all of them are as disgusting as ever. But Lucas seems to be different unless she wanted to deny herself of a golden opportunity of getting close to him. It wasn't long before Mrs Travis came to pick Olivia up from school after the incident leaving Olivia with no chance of saying goodbye to her friends. Mrs Travis ushered her into the car and drive out of the school compound. "Mum. I really wanted to bid Jocelyn goodbye." She lamented. "Not a chance." Mrs Travis snapped. "Jocelyn is my friend Mum and she just broke a goddamn golden record of the school today. I was planning probably we will host them in tonight." "Honestly Olivia? Did you know what just happened in your school? One of your teacher was killed. There is obviously no record of the day." Olivia didn't bother to utter any word. Probably her mother is right. Today at school will be remembered for both good and bad. Jocelyn had broken long term record and Mrs Grey got killed. "We're going to Reese school to pick her up and probably get you the school form." Mrs Travis said. "Form? Which school form?" "Reese school." "You've got to be kidding me Mum. I can't leave SAMS." "You can't leave SAMS? I won't buy that Olivia." "You can't just take me away from SAMS because of the death of Mrs Grey." "Not death Olivia. That's murder. She was brutally killed." Mrs Travis bawled. "Maybe she is only target in the school. Who know what she might have done?" "And what if she is not just a target but the beginning of a m******e?" "m******e what? That's crazy Mum. Nobody will ever attempt something like that." "Look here Olivia, my words are final. You're leaving SAMS." For some minutes, Olivia did not talk. She was boiling with rage. She can't accept that fact. She watched as her mother swerve down the next street to Reese school. "What of those students still there? Why are their parents not thinking the same way as you Mum?" "Because they are not seeing it from my point of view." "But Mum........." "Enough already Olivia, will you?" "Of course why not?" Mrs Travis drove into the parking lot and whistled. Quickly, Reese came out of the school tent and rushed down to her mother's car. She looked back and wave her teacher goodbye. "How was school darling?" Mrs Travis asked fastening the seat belt. "Great." Reese answered looking keenly at Olivia who seems too quiet for her nature. "Are you pinned down because of Mrs Grey's death?" Reese asked. "Can we not talk about this please Reese?" Olivia begged. "Of course. How is Layla?" "Why asking of Layla?" Olivia asked. "Who is Layla?" Mrs Travis asked as she drive out of the school compound heading straight home. "Olivia's classmate." She answered. "Look here Reese. I don't care what you're seeing just keep that mouth of yours shut." Olivia said angrily. "Are you angry because Mum said you're probably going to end up in my school? C'mon, don't be naive." "You're stepping beyond your boundary Reese. And you're quite too young for all these." "I hate to hear those words Olivia. I am nine. So, I am definitely old enough for anything." "Enough girls. Reese, please stop. Your sister just lost a dear teacher." Mrs Travis cautioned. Reese looked back to stare at Olivia "How about you invite Layla once more?" "For what?" "Interrogation." "What interrogation? Are you saying she killed Mrs Grey?" "I didn't say anything like that but I know the story of a werewolf who always wears a chain." Reese said. "Honestly, I can't wait till you clock ten so that you will stop seeing rubbish. Aren't you tired?" Olivia fired. "Why? It's a gift. " Olivia retorted. "Stupid gift." Olivia retorted. "I beseech you to keep your mouth shut Olivia. That gift is unique enough." Mrs Travis cautioned. "Of course it is. But Mum,you really have to let me stay at SAMS." "You're not staying Olive." "C'mon Mum. Olive can stay. This is just an unnecessary anger. Nobody is going to get hurt anymore. At least, not Olive." Reese said. Olivia heaved satisfactorily. "I will have to think about it." Mrs Travis said. "There are still loads of problem ahead in SAMS Olivia." Reese whispered to her sister. Travis Reese is a nine years old girl who carry the unique gift of the family lineage. The ability to see into the future, ability to know the hidden part of others' nature and the ability to become invincible. Every second child of the family bear the lineage gift from birth till they clock ten. Reese happened to be the second child of the Travis. There is hardly anything of human nature that she isn't aware of. She can read every hidden part of the human. She can read the hidden part of human by just looking at myths person once. And probably track the person down. "When is your friend visiting Olivia?" She asked. "She ought to visit today." "Well no. She won the competition?" "The lead. She broke that arrogant b***h's history." "Of course she will. She should pay us a visit one day." Reese said. "Of course she will. So, what do you know of Layla." "Werewolf." Reese whispered to her ears. "What?" Olivia almost screamed. "Caution yourselves ladies." Mrs Travis warned wondering why sh head shouted. * * * * Gwendolyn watched as the brand new car pull over to the school compound. Some minutes ago, she had bid her sister farewell. She watched Marcellus saying his goodbye to his friends as he walked towards the car. Two Guards rushed over to collect his bag and the door automatically slide opened. Gwendolyn left her mouth ajar. She had actually wanted to follow him home but with the turn of event, even to move her leg seems a hard task. She had never seen such a car before. Marcellus watched her inside the car before the driver began to pull off the school gate. "Stop the car Sean." He told the driver. "Of course sir." Sean said as he pulled over. Marcellus grabbed his card and some cash and hop down of the car. He walked briskly up to her. He tossed the money and the card at her chest. "Take a cab bitch." He retorted and left for his car. Gwendolyn stared as the car pulled out of the school compound. She quickly grabbed the card and the money and headed to the school bus station to board a cab. Within thirty minutes, Gwendolyn alighted in front of the Mitchell's massive buildings. She ascertained instantly that she has never seen such a building before not even in movies. She seems to understand the reason for Marcellus' pompous lifestyle. It all worth it. She went to touch the gate and was almost electrified. Alarm was blaring everywhere and she found herself sprung to the floor. Immediately, security came to check. "Hey young lady. You can't trespass here. This is an electric gate. Don't try such next time." Sean warned. "I'm.......I'm sorry but I'm not a passerby. I came by invitation." Gwendolyn explained. "By who?" Sean asked. "Marcellus. Mitchell Marcellus." "What's your identification?" "Nothing. He just gave me a card and some....." "Let her in Sean. She is the new maid I was talking to you about." Marcellus speak through the PA after seeing the scenario from the top storey. "Alright sir." Sean answered as he opened the gate for her. Gwendolyn walked in sluggishly and every step is quite too hard for her to take. She dare not look at the building. She kept her eyes fixed to the floor. Sean walk her down to the maid's quarter where Marcellus was waiting with two other maids who dressed as if they were workers at the airport. "Welcome aboard Miss Gwendolyn. I promise to make the last three weeks as worst as possible for you." He spouted. Gwendolyn couldn't utter a word. She has never seen that kind of beauty in a house before. Definitely, he was born with both silver and golden spoons. "I want you to start your daily work with these two maids here. This is Georgina she is in charge of the house decor and this is Helen she is in charge of the water running through the house. Can you show her what to do for you Georgina and Helen? She will be glad to do anything." Marcellus said. Georgina and Helen take a glimpse at each other before facing Gwendolyn. " I'm Georgina." "I'm Helen." "Nice to meet you. I'm Gwendolyn." "This way." Georgina said ushering Gwendolyn down to the maids' quarters with Marcellus closely following behind. Gwendolyn marveled when she got the maids' quarter. It was a large apartment with dozens of rooms. Each room for each maid. And funnily enough, there is even a significant maid for each significant work in the house, even ironing. "Take her to every room Georgina. She must do something for everyone. And I want the video clip of everything. " Marcellus said. "Yes my Lord." Georgina answered. Marcellus took a last look at Gwendolyn's helpless eyes before walking out. "Follow me." Georgina ordered. Judging by the look of things, Gwendolyn resolved that her room is never compatible to any of the maids' room. Their room is like a palace compared to hers. "How can someone be living in such luxuries?" She muttered under her breath. Exactly two hours after, she was standing in front of Marcellus who was laughing over a video clip of the work she had done. "Can I go now?" Gwendolyn repeated for the sixth time. Marcellus ignored her as he continued laughing over the video clip. "I must upload this on my website. Everybody must see the kind of human you had become in the last few hours. It will make a good record in the school." Marcellus said satisfactorily. "Of course." Gwendolyn murmured. She tried to survey Marcellus sitting room. He has his own bungalow in the building quite far from the maids' quarter. She had walked for almost five minutes before getting to his own building. And she begin to wonder if his parents have a building for themselves too. Gwendolyn let her gaze rested on the interior decor. He seems to love white as almost everything in the house was white. Just then, her gaze rested on a portrait. She stared at it. He had captured the picture with Charleigh when he took her to the beach on their second date. It was then that Gwendolyn realized that the girl's photos were hung almost in every corner of the building. And there is no doubt that she had seen the face somewhere before. Beside Charleigh's photos, Marcellus also have collections of mermaid's different tails in portrait. Gwendolyn's heart skipped a beat. By the time Marcellus took his gaze away from the video clip,he watched her staring at the massive portrait. "What?" He demanded and Gwendolyn jabbed back to life. "I wanted to be on my way." "That's not what I mean. Why are you staring at those photos?" Marcellus asked standing up from his chair. "I don't know what you mean. Those photos......are ....just lovely." "You mean the girl's photos? You're no match for Charleigh you b***h! And you will never." Marcellu screamed angrily. "Charleigh?" Gwendolyn murmured remembering the face at once. She was the girl that requested for a drink and hot bath in their house some days ago. "She is beautiful." Gwendolyn ascertained. "Now, get out of here." He ordered seriously. Gwendolyn watched him from his pointed finger. The finger was shaking so as his whole body and his eyes seems swollen. "Of course. Sure." Gwendolyn answered and walked out accompanied by a security Guard. That day when Charleigh visited, Gwendolyn was trying to read through her mind but her mind was blank and hollow that Gwendolyn had felt that probably she was a ghost. But by the time Gwendolyn returned to the sitting room with Jocelyn whom she had asked to come and take a look at her,Charleigh was nowhere to be found. Now, it seems to her that Marcellus had a serious tie with Charleigh. But she hasn't figured out what tie. "Don't talk about the girl again young lady if you want to return home safely." The security accompanying her out warned seriously. "Alright. I am Gwendolyn." She introduced. "I'm Ethan." "Alright. I'm sorry for putting him in that state." "You are lucky enough for him to overlook it." "Thanks. But if I may ask, who is she to him?" "I am not here to give details Miss Gwendolyn but to give warning to trespassers." "What am I missing? What other thing do you need to warn me of Ethan?" "Stay away from his fish." "He love fish?" "He hate them. With passion. Especially the goddess of the river." "Mermaids?" "Yes." "But why?" "I am not to give details but warning." "Of course." "And he used to hunt them down. No matter how many. So, don't play with his things." Ethan warned seriously. The knock came at exactly some minutes past five in the evening. Anthony rushed to the door expecting to see Gwendolyn and Jocelyn whom he had been angrily waiting for but instead, he stood facing a white face with a yellow dress and a red cap. "Hi! You must be Mr Anthony Grayson." "Of .......course yes." "Oh! My name is John Wilde." "Hello John!" "You can call me Wilde." "Okay." "Can we come in please? We have alot to discuss about Mr Anthony." "We?" "Oh yes! Pardon my manner. My son is here." Wilde said pushing Lucas forward. "This is my son, Lucas Wilde." "Hi Lucas!" "Hi, Anthony." Lucas greeted. "I'm sorry Mr Wilde can you tell me the purpose of your visit?" "Of course yes. Recently in this area, we've discovered some white sharks that might come up any moment from now to the surface. And quite a hint on tsunami. So, from now on, the surface marine have decided to build a camp very next to the sea in case anything unexpected popped out." John Wilde explained. "Marine site? I've been living here for the past eighteen years Mr Wilde and nothing like this has ever happened." "I'm afraid it's going to happen right now Mr Anthony. We just feel like giving you an head start. As you can see that the boys had started the work already." Wilde explained. "What?!" Anthony flung his door opened and peeped through the sea. There were hundreds of men already working on the site. Anthony felt the urge to decline and fight it out with them. But sooner did he realised that that wont be necessary. He didn't actually acquired the land legally. There is no point fighting an already won war. "Do you have kids?" Wilde asked. "No. I don't." Anthony lied. "Oh, better put yourself together Anthony. This worth it." Wilde said tapping him lightly on the shoulder before walking away with Lucas. Anthony dart inside and slammed the door shut. He started breathing heavily. "This cant be happening right now." He cried. Soon, Jocelyn and Gwendolyn walked in both looking surprised. "What is happening out there Leo?" Jocelyn asked. "Don't tell me that that is going to be a marine site." Gwendolyn puts in. Anthony was too weak to talk. He thought of what to do, but he never reached a conclusion. Not even one. "I'm going to tell them to evacuate our land." Jocelyn said angrily as she made for the door. She flung the door opened only to stare at Lucas back from afar. She shut the door back of a sudden. "What was that?" Gwendolyn demanded. "Lucas." "Lucas? Who?" "Lucas Wilde." "Oh my God! What was he doing here?" Gwendolyn asked surprisingly. "His father seems to be the head of the marines here. Did you know him?" Anthony asked. "Yes. We are at SAMS together." Both said. "Well, you are probably going to hide in here forever." Anthony pointed out. "Why?" Jocelyn demanded. "Because I already told them I live alone." "You did that father?" Gwendolyn asked surprisingly. As Jocelyn made for the door again and cracked it gently opened, just to take a look at Lucas again. Somehow, she felt happy he is near.
