Jessica's Pov As I stood there,my heart pounding in my chest, I suddenly heard a sound coming from behind me. It was a low groan, emanating from where the alpha lay unconscious on the floor. Despite my fear and anger, I felt a twinge of concern. Had I hurt him more than I had intended? I turned to face the Alpha. But before I could even react, he was on top of me, his strong hands grabbing at me roughly. Panic set in, as I struggled to break free from his grasp, but he was too powerful. He laughed maliciously, ignoring my pleas for mercy. I felt a surge of fear and anger coursing through my veins. This was not how it was supposed to be. I refused to be a victim, to be taken against my will. My father had taught me to be strong and to fight for what I believed in, and I would not back down now. As he was about to take what he wanted by force, my instincts took over. In a split-second decision, I grabbed a nearby object and struck the Alpha with all the strength I could muster. The sound of the impact echoed through the chamber. There was a sickening c***k as the object connected with the Alpha's skull, and he fell to the ground, unconscious. Lying in the pool of his own blood. "Alpha Richard, is everything alright?" a voice asked at the other side of the door. I stood frozen beside his body, which was lying in a pool of blood. Should I stay put or try to make a run for it? I quickly scanned the room, searching for any possible exits. Spotting a window at the far end of the chamber, I made a run for it, my heart racing. I climbed out the window, and ran through the woods, to the cottage father left me. My mind was in a haze as I tried to process what had just happened. I had never expected to kill the Alpha, but it had been a desperate act of self-defense. I had no idea where to go or what to do. I was alone, with no pack and no protection. The other members of the pack would surely seek revenge for the death of their Alpha, and I knew I would be hunted down if I stayed any longer. Before I could even think of my next move, the door burst open, and pack members rushed in, including my stepmother. They looked at me with fury in their eyes, ready to exact revenge for my attack on their alpha. "Kill her!" my stepmother cried, her voice filled with venom. "She's a traitor and a murderer!"My stepmother's shrill voice echoed through the room, punctuated by the snarls and growls of the angry pack members. I braced myself for the onslaught, my body tense and ready to fight or flee. My heart raced as I faced the angry mob. I knew I couldn't fight them all off, and my chances of escaping were slim. My breathing came in ragged gasps as I prepared for the worst. But just as the pack members closed in on me, suddenly, a new voice boomed through the chaos, commanding attention and respect. It was a deep, authoritative voice, full of power and wisdom. The pack members hesitated, their eyes turning to the source of the voice. As the crowd parted, I saw him for the first time. He was a towering figure, even larger than Alpha Richard had been. His fur was a rich golden color, and his eyes glinted with intelligence and strength. I felt a strange sense of calm wash over me as I looked at him, and I knew that he was different from the rest of the pack. It was Gabriel, a popular alpha known for his ruthlessness and brutality, who led one of the neighboring packs. And were allies with us. "Stop!" he repeated, his voice echoing through the room. "This is not how we handle conflicts of our kind. We will hear her side of the story before we make any decisions." "Who do you think you are?" my stepmother's voice dripped with venom as she confronted the stranger who had interrupted the pack's mob. "I don't think you need an introduction," Gabriel replied calmly, his gaze steady and unwavering. "You have no right to butt into our pack matters, so leave," she spat back. "No, you have no right to take her life," Gabriel's voice was low and commanding. I lay on the floor, gasping for air, my heart racing with fear and uncertainty. The tension in the air was palpable, as if at any moment, someone would lunge forward and attack. "She killed our alpha, the strongest member of the pack," Beatrice's voice rose in anger. "He isn't that strong, is he?" Gabriel chuckled, his expression unchanging. "Did you just make a mockery of our alpha?" Beatrice's voice was laced with fury. Gabriel's gaze flickered to me, and for a moment, I saw something in his eyes, a flicker of concern and determination. I couldn't read his expression, but I knew that he was my only hope. "Of course not. All I'm saying is that she was just probably defending herself", he continued, "she had no reason to kill him" The pack members' faces twisted with anger and hatred as they moved closer, their eyes fixed on me like I was a piece of prey to be hunted. My heart pounded in my chest as I took their menacing stance, feeling more helpless than ever before. "Don't listen to him, she's the reason our Alpha is dead, she killed him!" Beatrice's voice was laced with venom as she pointed an accusatory finger in my direction. The pack members began to murmur amongst themselves, their expressions growing more hostile by the second. I could feel their eyes boring into me, and I knew that I was in grave danger. But then, Gabriel stepped forward, his commanding presence silencing the pack. "Stop," he said firmly, his eyes sweeping over the crowd. "I won't repeat myself again." Beatrice sneered at him. "There's nothing he can do, he is outnumbered, he can't take us all." "We would see about that,"he replied with a rather reassuring voice. Despite the odds against him, Gabriel stood tall and unwavering, his eyes blazing with determination. He was my only hope, my last line of defense against the pack that wanted me dead. "You want to jeopardize the relationship you have with our pack* Gabriel paused for a minute before giving a subtle reply."No." "Then step aside," Beatrice said with a smile on her face. The pack members grabbed me,as I struggled to escape their grip. They took me outside and shoved me to the ground. One of them brought out a dagger. About to strike my neck. "Wait!" Gabriel exclaimed. "What again?" Beatrice asked. "I have a proposal" "And what would that be?" "How about I buy her?" • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Jessica's Pov Awaiting my fate, I lay in the dust as Gabriel bargained on my behalf. Why would he want to buy me? Why does he have an interest in me? And why does it have to be him of all people?....These questions popped up all over my head. Though it was better than dying, being bought by the most ruthless wolf ever known, "Gabriel", was something not to look forward to. Gabriel had been feared ever since he was a young wolf. As a pup he was abandoned by his parents and had to survive on his own facing different obstacles as a little pup, even surviving rouge wolves. Rumor has it that the scar on his neck was gotten then. His father, who later became an alpha, died in the hands of his own son, who came back for revenge, challenging him to a battle. It was one of the fiercest battles seen. Gabriel was at the brink of his win when his mother stepped in. He ended up killing both husband and wife. Ever since then, he has been the leader of the most fearsome pack, his emotions always the same ... .as cold as it could ever be. ********** Jessica's Pov My stepmother looked taken aback. "What do you mean, buy her?" Gabriel's eyes narrowed. "I mean, I will buy her from you." My stepmother's face contorted in fury. "What? She's not for sale! She's a member of our pack, and she belongs here!" Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "I have no interest in buying your pack, only this girl. I will pay a fair price for her." My stepmother hesitated, clearly torn between her desire to kill and the potential benefits of getting on Gabriel's good side. Finally, she nodded, and Gabriel turned to me. "You are Jessica, right?"
