Derek's POV:
I was so lost in my own thoughts that I did not even realize when my next in command, Denton, came up to me. I almost didn't notice till he placed a hand on my shoulder. He somehow sensed that I was in deep thought at that moment and might need a gentle touch to come back to the now. However, when he did gently place a hand on my unsuspecting shoulder, I jumped and looked up at him as he started to speak.
"Pardon the disturbance, alpha. We have checked out every possible direction in this vast tunnel system," Denton told me.
"Are you sure you have searched the entire cavern?" I asked him. I wanted to ensure that they had indeed checked all that they could have. I did not want them to miss anything that we should have found in the time that we were actually here to sea
