Amy eyed Gilbert up and down with disdain and said, "Stop boasting. With your outfit, it's impossible for you to have a cent, let alone a thousand dollars!"
Gilbert remained calm. "What if I do?"
Amy rolled her eyes and retorted, "I don't want to argue with you here. If you don't leave now, I'll call security!"
The scene attracted the attention of many bystanders, who began gossiping about Gilbert.
"Can you believe this guy is claiming he has a thousand dollars? He's crazy."
"Look at his outfit; he probably bought it from a flea market. I doubt he even has a single cent."
"This guy is really a big dreamer."
The crowd burst into laughter at their remarks. The security guard hurried over and gave Gilbert a hostile look. "Sir, please leave."
Amidst their laughter, Gilbert slowly pulled out a one-dollar bill from the black plastic bag.
As everyone stared at the bill in his hand, their laughter stopped.
The once lively lobby fell into silence.
How could this guy in cheap sportswear casually take out one dollar?
Who exactly was he?
Amy's face flushed then turned deathly pale. She opened her mouth in disbelief, unable to believe that Gilbert had a lot of money.
Upon hearing about what was happening, the bank manager rushed out of his office and bowed to Gilbert. "Hello, sir, are you here to deposit money?"
Gilbert nodded.
Paul Lewis carefully took the one-dollar bill from Gilbert's hand and noticed various creases on it, making it look crumpled.
If it were anyone else, they would have treated this bill with care, as one-dollar bills weren't commonly circulated.
While watching Gilbert's nonchalant look, Paul became even more curious about his background. "Sir, please wait a moment. I need to report this to headquarters."
Gilbert frowned. "That seems a bit complicated, I want to deposit more than just this one dollar."
Upon hearing this, Paul became excited. "How much do you want to deposit? I'll report it all to headquarters."
Each bank had its quota to reach, and just this one dollar from Gilbert had already fulfilled their requirements for the entire year.
Gilbert opened the black plastic bag and handed it to Paul. "Check it yourself."
Paul instinctively looked down, seeing the stacks of bills inside the black bag.
He felt dizzy and almost fainted. If it weren't for the security guard beside him, he might have fallen down.
Paul gasped for air, unable to believe what he was seeing. He reached out and took one of the bills, feeling its texture.
It was real!
There were probably hundreds or even thousands of dollars in that black plastic bag!
With this bag of money, they wouldn't have to worry about reaching their quota for the next year or even the next hundred years. It was a historical high, surpassing the total deposits of all branches combined, even including headquarters.
Plus, headquarters would surely commend him, and he might even be promoted. He was on the path to success.
Paul was overwhelmed with happiness.
Gilbert spoke up amidst Paul's daze, "Mr. Lewis, there's roughly a thousand dollars in there. I want to deposit it all."
Paul thought he might be hallucinating. He stammered, "Are you sure? You want to deposit a thousand dollars into our bank?"
Gilbert nodded. Compared to Paul's unbelievable look, he seemed much calmer, as if he was depositing just one cent.
Paul quickly recovered. He stared at Gilbert as if he was looking at God.
Others also noticed the bills inside the black plastic bag and couldn't help but gasp in shock.
How much money was in there?
They didn't expect that such a large amount of banknotes would be put in a black plastic bag, which looked just like a garbage bag.
"Oh my god! Who is he?"
"He must be the richest person in our state."
"Even the richest person wouldn't have such assets. He just casually took out a thousand dollars."
Amy got very excited. She pushed the intern girl aside and smiled ingratiatingly at Gilbert.
"Mr. Wilson, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding earlier. Please forgive me. Can you give me a chance to apologize and let me help you with your transactions."
Her attitude now was completely different from before, almost like she was a different person.
Her face was plastered with an extremely flattering smile.
But Gilbert wasn't going to forgive her. He sneered, "I'm sorry. I'm a petty and vindictive man."
Then, he pointed to the girl who had been pushed aside. "I want her to do it."
Not only Amy, but even the intern girl was stunned. She widened her eyes in shock; her cheeks were still red from crying, making her look dazed and cute.
Paul looked hesitant. "Mr. Wilson, she's just an intern. There might be some problems if she handles such a big transaction. Would you like me to pick someone more experienced for you?"
Gilbert raised an eyebrow. "Can't she do it? Fine, I probably should leave."
How could Paul let Gilbert leave? Gilbert was a big customer who could decide his future. He pointed to the intern girl. "You're officially hired now! Handle his transaction immediately!"
Paul would do anything for him.
With the deposit, Paul would have an amazing future.
Paul wore an even more flattering smile than before. "Mr. Wilson, are you okay with that?"
