Lin Qianluo was in the midst of dancing when suddenly someone pressed up against her, matching her movements, drawing near and then pulling away. When she turned her head and saw the man's face, she exclaimed in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
She abruptly stopped dancing and pulled her hand away.
"Qianluo, it's been so long, I never expected to run into you here." Shen Yu looked at her with surprise, his eyes filled with excitement.
It had indeed been a long time, so long that she was almost forgetting her first boyfriend.
Shen Yu was her college classmate. After graduation, he insisted on studying abroad. At first, they managed to endure a long-distance relationship, but problems arose over time, especially when she caught him cheating and decided to break up with him.
He still looked much the same as he did back then, but his features were sharper, his eyes deeper.
She smiled, "Want to grab a drink?"
"Sure."
Mu Ying had been practically popping her eyes out as they approached. Lin Qianluo walked up to her, waving her hand in front of Mu Ying's face, "Come back to Earth."
Mu Ying asked in surprise, "Shen Yu, when did you come back to the country?"
"Yesterday." Shen Yu sat next to Lin Qianluo and replied.
"How coincidental." Mu Ying murmured softly, looking at Lin Qianluo with an ambiguous expression.
Just back and already divorced, wasn't that too coincidental? Could it be fate bringing them back together?
"Qianluo, what are you up to these days?" Shen Yu smiled at Lin Qianluo.
Lin Qianluo chuckled, "Not much, just working as a professional novelist."
Shen Yu smiled as if reminiscing, "You always loved reading novels in college, even during class, and I had to cover for you."
Mu Ying blinked rapidly, thinking, "Are they hitting it off already? Why do I feel like such a third wheel!"
"Is that so?" Lin Qianluo replied lightly, "I don't remember that."
Mu Ying froze for a moment, blinked at Lin Qianluo, then turned to Shen Yu.
There was a hint of hurt in Shen Yu's eyes, which he quickly masked with a gulp of his drink.
At that moment, Lin Qianluo felt a strange sensation and turned to look behind her, but amidst the crowd, she didn't notice anything unusual.
Suppressing the discomfort in her heart, she said to Mu Ying, "I'll go to the restroom for a moment."
After washing her hands, she bumped into someone on her way out.
The man saw her, frowned unfriendly at first, then, recognizing her face, exclaimed, "Sis-in-law? What a coincidence!"
Lin Qianluo replied softly, "Sorry, you've got the wrong person."
The man shook his head, "Sis-in-law, did you come with Ho Ge, or are you here to check up on him? Come on, let me take you to him!"
Ho Siyue? Before she could react, her wrist was tugged, and she was pulled into a private room.
As the door opened, she saw Ho Siyue seated in the center.
He leaned lazily against the couch, his angular hands swaying a glass, his deep blue collar half-opened, his tie loosened, revealing a hint of his chest.
He leaned his head as if listening to his buddy beside him, appearing nonchalant. Sitting beside him was a woman with a revealing top and a slender waist, gazing at him with adoration, almost burying herself into his chest.
The man who had brought her exclaimed loudly, "Ho Ge, look who I brought over!"
All eyes turned to her, but Lin Qianluo scanned the room and didn't recognize anyone, some faces seemed vaguely familiar, perhaps from the wedding three years ago.
"Sis-in-law! Surprise, huh?" The man boasted, unperturbed.
Lin Qianluo thought, "So, Ho Siyue hasn't told them about our divorce yet?"
Ho Siyue pushed away the woman who was practically clinging to him, placed his glass on the table with a thud, and said without any fluctuation, "Surprised, but not pleased."
Those four words carried a lot of meaning. In family alliances, many couples were only for show, playing separately behind the scenes.
But Lin Qianluo, known as a virtuous wife and good mother, usually behaved well, so what was this act about?
Lin Qianluo was nudged by someone, "Sis-in-law, come sit over here."
She hesitated between 'turning around and leaving' and 'giving Ho Siyue face', deciding to give him face, considering the billion-dollar compensation.
People automatically made way for her as she passed. Finally, she stopped to Ho Siyue's right and said softly to the low-cut woman, "Excuse me, could you move over a bit?"
The woman looked somewhat annoyed but still shifted slightly to the side.
As soon as Lin Qianluo sat down, her waist was suddenly gripped, and her whole body was half-pressed against his. His scent of cold fragrance, alcohol, and a hint of tobacco surrounded her, his hand tightening around her waist, his glass now full, pressed against her lips, as he asked in a low voice, "Are you having fun dancing?"
So, he did see. Lin Qianluo took a sip from his glass without saying a word.
"Who's that wild guy?"
Wild guy? The sudden question caught her off guard. She pushed away the glass, coughed heavily, and asked softly, "What are you talking about?"
"I saw him holding you around the waist, and you seemed to enjoy it," Ho Siyue looked at her with a mix of unknown anger in his eyes, his hand gripping hers tighter, "So, being held like that makes you happy?"
Lin Qianluo remained silent.
Ah, she understood now. He must have seen her dancing with Shen Yu and acted out of spite by grabbing her waist.
They were practically glued together, his grip almost suffocating!
Lin Qianluo tried to pry his arm off, her brows furrowed, her round almond eyes wide as if she was about to bite him. Through gritted teeth, she said, "Let go!"
The more casual his tone, the more intense his inner anger became.
Very well, she's all lively and vivacious here, playing deadpan and boring in front of him. Like a lively vixen suddenly turned into a corpse!
"We're already divorced!" Lin Qianluo couldn't help but give face, struggling to lift her body and whispered a threat in his ear.
"Oh! What secrets are Ho Ge and sis-in-law whispering about?" Someone suddenly exclaimed.
Lin Qianluo froze, the wildcat suddenly retracting its claws, curling up softly, her ears uncontrollably turning red.
"She's a bit drunk," Ho Siyue suddenly reached through Lin Qianluo's knees, effortlessly picking her up, and announced to everyone, "I'll take her home first."
Lin Qianluo felt utterly embarrassed, covering her face the whole way,
buried in his chest.
In these three years, they had been polite to each other, except for the necessary husband-and-wife activities, they had almost no communication, even the most challenging matters were resolved in a few words.
This was the first time in three years that he had held her, but unfortunately, it was after their divorce.
As they passed by Mu Ying and Shen Yu, both of them looked at them in surprise, but Ho Siyue just carried on as if nothing had happened, boldly carrying her past them, not sparing even a glance.
He had driven here, and he carried her all the way into the passenger seat.
