“But it’s very rare for a Hybrid of werewolves and vampires to appear since they have been enemies for thousands of years,” Alex added.
He suddenly stared at Lyra with complicated eyes as he paused for a second. As if considering whether to utter the words or not, Alex opened and closed his mouth, but no words came out.
It was when he saw Lyra raising one of her eyebrows that finally made him speak, “They are not welcome by both clans and packs.”
“But yes, the children, with both Werewolf and Vampire blood running through their veins, which are often called the Forbidden Ones..." Finally, Alex said in a weird tone mixed with melancholy and complicated emotions, “Do exist”
Silence engulfed the dining room. Alex fell into a deep contemplation after finishing his words. He turned his eyes to look intently at Lyra who appeared to be digesting the words he said.
It didn’t take too long though for Alex to speak again, but at the end of his words, his voice became serious as if warning her, “But they are mostly hidden from the Underworld society, because if they are to make their presence known, they are highly likely to be haunted and killed.”
Finally, Alex threw a bomb, taking Lyra completely off guard, "As for us, we are already a werewolf from the beginning. To be more precise, we have werewolf blood in our veins."
"The only difference is that we are what they call Hybrid. Half of our blood came from a werewolf, while the other half is from a human or a vampire," Alex added, not waiting for Lyra's reaction.
As expected, Lyra's eyes constricted, an expression of disbelief appeared on her face. Her mind completely turned blank.
At first, Lyra already had an idea about werewolves, but she thought that the lab was still trying to create one. She did not expect that these creatures already existed and even walked undetected among the mortals of the world.
After hearing everything that Alex said, Lyra didn’t know how to stomach the information.
Who knows if she had already met one without realizing it at all.
Maybe she did, which could also be the probable reason they discovered that she was actually one of them. Could this be the rationale why she had been abducted?
It was really inconceivable to hear about their existence being real. No matter whether they were blessed by the so-called Moon Goddess, originally Angels, Fallen Angels or Demons, they are all considered as monsters.
What more, Alex said she had a werewolf's blood in her veins which sounded even more absurd!
Thinking about her parents, Lyra does not recall seeing any sign of them being a werewolf or vampire.
“Impossible!" Lyra exclaimed as her body trembled, not knowing whether she's frightened or angry about implicating her parents.
She kept on exclaiming in her mind, 'They were normal humans, weren't they? Or.. Perhaps one of them was good at hiding it deeply.'
Although she can choose to believe in their existence or not, would it really do her any good if she chose to not believe it at all? Lyra didn’t think so.
Other than that, there were some vague memories of seeing a huge wolf that appeared in her mind as she listened to Alex. It was enough to raise some doubts in her that those creatures really do exist.
Hence, the possibility that one of her parents was a werewolf, resulting in her having werewolf blood running into her veins could also be plausible. It could also very well be the reason why she had been abducted and experimented on before.
Regretfully, Lyra couldn't help conjuring wild hypotheses as she kept on asking herself, 'Could it be my dad? But mom said he died from a heart attack. So which of them had werewolf blood? Alex should be lying, shouldn't he? But why would he lie about something like this? What's his purpose?'
Rage began to dissipate through Lyra’s heart, at the same time confusion and repudiation made her mind reluctant to accept the possibilities she could think of.
Her body started shaking, it was not known whether it was due to shock or hatred. She unconsciously clenched her fist that was hidden beneath the dining table as she glared at Alex with animosity.
"My parents are both human! How could I have wolf blood?!" She exclaimed vehemently, but she sounded more like she was trying to convince herself.
Lyra’s voice trembled as she began to mumble, "It's completely impossible… Right.. Impossible.." trying hard to make herself believe that it couldn't be real as she abhorred the idea of having a monster’s blood.
"Even though my dad died a month before my younger sister was born, he can’t be a werewolf… He can’t be.. It’s not possible at all.. Even mom… Mom… She..." Her voice was soft. She sounded like she was about to cry but trying her best to hold it in.
"No.. It can't be.. No one… I'm pretty sure, none of my parents are!” Lyra cried out, finally unable to take it.
Shaking her head vehemently, refusing to believe the absurdity of it. "There must be a mistake… I can’t be.."
Then, a sudden thought came to her before she suddenly exclaimed, "Or.. Am I even their biological child?!"
