Alex picked up his utensils and took small portions of each variety of food on the table before eating them one by one.
All his actions were very natural, yet he looked very noble and pleasing to the eyes.
When he was done tasting the food, Alex placed his knife and fork on his plate before raising his head to look back at Lyra, who was standing at the same spot, watching him silently.
"There, there's no poison in it. You can eat at ease." Alex coaxed, sounding like he is speaking to an unreasonable child.
With a helpless voice, he added. "For how long are you going to stand there? If you can't wait to ask some questions, you can do so while we are eating. You haven't eaten anything for a long time."
There was still no response from Lyra, a strange silence settled in the dining room. It was a few minutes more when she finally walked towards the table and sat down.
Lyra didn't move to eat immediately. After observing Alex in silence, she finally calmed down. A lot of questions were popping into her mind, but she didn't know where to start.
She finally took a deep breath and eventually started to ask seriously, "Just who am I?"
"What?" Alex subconsciously asked in surprise, wondering if all her memories were in chaos for her to ask such a question. "You.."
"Just answer me. Who do you think I am?" Lyra interrupted. Not letting Alex continue to speak.
Alex was a bit speechless. He could hear the doubt in her voice. She sounded like she was interrogating him.
He really wanted to open her head to see what she was thinking in that brain of hers. But he was left with no choice, he should understand her.
Knowing she has a lot of questions, it is good that Lyra finally calmed down and decided to ask rather than keep silent.
Alex raised his hand in surrender. "Alright, I'll answer your questions. I'll just summarize things to keep everything simple. Let me know if you want me to explain more in detail."
"You are originally named Lyra Wilson from the Island city of P Country. You were only twelve when you traveled to W Country to study. After almost a year, you went missing at the age of thirteen," Alex answered.
He started eating as he explained in detail.
Lyra was in her first year in college as a management student when she was abducted by the lab. At that time, she was on her way back home after their company anniversary.
She was the firstborn child of an average family and had two younger siblings.
Lyra was six years older than her younger brother and was twelve years older than her younger sister.
As an intelligent child, Lyra advanced in elementary and her early years in high school which was why she started college at such a young age and successfully got a top score in P Country's University entrance examination.
Consequently, Lyra received multiple offers for scholarships. This included foreign invitations.
It was also then that the Encephalon Group of Companies sent her an invitation to be a working student in one of their companies at the same time providing a full scholarship in a well-known University at W country.
Even though it is against the law for a child of that age to work, the government would consider depending on the time and type of job and the number of hours a child would work.
Since Lyra was a special case because she was only 12 years old then, her invitation included the company providing a sealed contract with the government's approval.
Since the Encephalon group of companies was located in a foreign country, Lyra was even designated a place to stay for free with a monthly allowance, and she was only required to work for fourteen hours a week while studying.
They were even willing to provide such favorable conditions to the said contract. Plus, she could continue to work at their company immediately after she graduated from college. She would then be granted a ten-year employment contract which she may choose to extend according to her will.
At first, Lyra was a bit suspicious about this invitation. That kind of offer sounded insane as to who or which company would offer such a deal to some unknown person like her.
Although she got first in the P Country's University entrance exam, what the Encephalon offered was too much of an incredible opportunity.
Thus, Lyra couldn't help thinking that there's a conspiracy behind this offer.
What's more, she was just a 12-year-old student who was then still choosing which university she would attend in college.
Moreover, she was still too young to understand that kind of thing.
It was until her mother urged her to accept the invitation. Explaining about the company being prestigious all over the world and that they could be trusted.
Hence, Lyra was finally convinced and with the thought of giving her family a good life, she decided to grab the opportunity.
