What she looked like

Chapter 8 Thinking carefully, knowing Lyra's personality, Alex can't help shaking his head to dismiss the idea of her committing suicide. If she had that kind of weak personality, she would have killed herself long ago. Even though she can’t remember him at all, Alex knew her for a long time. They have been together, working with each other when they were still in the Research Institute. Lyra was a strong woman who was a kind but vengeful person. She would surely take the chance to get back to those who harmed her. Given this chance after escaping, Alex knew that she would not let go of this opportunity to seek vengeance. Therefore, throwing all his worries at the back of his mind, Alex decided to give her substantial space to think and get herself back. Although she had lost her memories, he was sure that her personality would not have a drastic change. He continued to step out of the bedroom and carefully closed the door behind him. As for Lyra, she had some doubts the moment that Alex didn't respond right away. She could sense his hesitation to speak, something must have happened that was difficult for him to tell her. Because of this, she assumed that her experience might be something unacceptable. Yes. For her, it is easier to accept the reality of being experimented on, injected by countless different liquids, compared to being violated against her will. But with regards to how the laboratory she used to stay works, the likelihood of the Research Institute of the potential of using her eggs or having a surrogate is possible, but this is against her belief. Therefore, it didn't matter not getting any explanation from Alex for now. Just like he said, he can always tell her what he knows but was simply worried that she might not believe it. Despite the chance that Alex was just pretending, it was good enough that he gave her some time to be alone. What Lyra greatly appreciated was when Alex considered her feelings. Whether it is real or fake, he presented her with the privilege to decide whether to either get the answers from him or wait for her to recover her memories. It's not that she believed Alex right away. There's no way she would trust someone she didn't know, especially since she knew she had lost some of her memories. Besides, there exist actors in movies and television. They are very capable of controlling what they want others to see and making these people believe in them. It is, therefore, not surprising to meet one who would try to delude you. For whatever purpose Alex has in trying to gain her trust, Lyra has already met countless people who can hide their true selves deeply. For that reason, she can't put away the possibility that Alex may have ulterior motives. Lyra is feeling quite complicated. She doesn't understand why she would feel this way. There was this kind of odd sense of belief, trust, and good feelings towards Alex. Perhaps she indeed knew Alex, it is just that she has forgotten. It was then she decided not to speak, pretending to be in a daze, while in fact, her mind was working fast, thinking about the possibilities. Despite knowing that it is of no use to contemplate without understanding her current situation, Lyra still tried to sort out the things she needed to do first. As of now, her situation is far better than before. Living in a luxurious room, seemingly free to do whatever she wants, it's more comfortable compared to those days when she was staying in the laboratory. It did not matter whether she's being monitored or not, Lyra doesn't care at all. What she needs to do now is to calm down and think. Finally, she decided to determine whether Alex is an enemy or a friend. At the same time, she must seize the chance to analyze and understand her situation better. Lyra took a deep breath to calm down. All she wanted to do now was to take a warm bath. She slowly got out of bed, looked around, and found that across the main bedroom door, there was a large thick curtain that covered almost the entire side of the wall. Lyra could guess it was a full glass window, or maybe the balcony, but she was in no mood to look outside. Looking on the other wall, there is a twin door positioned in the middle. Lyra slowly walked towards that door. She paused for a moment before raising both her hands to grab and twist the doorknob, opening to see what's inside. When the other side came into view, Lyra was completely astonished to see multiple rows of glass stands full of men’s and women's clothing. There was also a wide dresser, placed on the wall between those wall closets while across it was a huge mirror attached to the wall. On the other side of the wall, there's a sliding glass door where it can vaguely show the other side. But it was enough to determine what's in it. It's pretty obvious, it was the bathroom as she could make out the shape of the sink. As she moved forward, she stopped to look at one of the closets. She wanted to take a bath so she needed some towels and clothes. Rummaging for clothes she could use according to her preferences, she would take them with her inside the bathroom. Even though this place looks wonderful, Lyra is not stupid to change in this room. Who knows if hidden cameras are monitoring all her actions. Although she was already used to being seen naked since it was how she had been when numerous scientists were experimenting with her in the laboratory, it still felt uncomfortable not knowing whether she is being watched. Like before, she felt violated being seen by countless unknown people. Men or women observing her body, touching her everywhere. Thankfully, they did not touch her private areas. After gathering all the clothes and towels she needed, Lyra went straight to the bathroom without even turning her head to look at her reflection after passing by the huge mirror. It wasn't until she went in and was about to take off all her clothes that she finally noticed, she was wearing very comfortable pajamas. No wonder they felt different from what she used to wear in the lab. As for who could have worn it on her? There’s no one else, it could only be Alex who helped her change when she was still unconscious. After taking them off, Lyra unintentionally had a glimpse of herself in the long bathroom mirror. It was just fleeting, but it was enough for her to turn bewildered. Although she has seen the silhouette of her appearance through her peripheral view by the glass cabinets in the dressing room, Lyra didn't have time to take a good peek of herself, not even caring what she looked like. Looking at herself in the mirror was incredible. The change was something she could have thought of only in dreams.
