An Unexpected Reunion

Everything was dark for a long time. I didn't know exactly for how long, but slowly I started to feel the world around me come back into focus, just in time for me to wish I hadn't just yet. My whole body ached and throbbed, it felt like I had been hit by a bus. The throbbing in my head caused me to keep my eyes wired shut, unprepared face whatever light might be waiting to assault me. I tried to move but all of my muscles screamed in protest and I groaned at the pain that ran through me. For a long while, it was all I could feel. Gradually, other things started registering in my mind. Like the fact that I was laying on a cold stone floor and that the air around me was crisp and uncomfortable. I dreaded the idea of opening my eyes, but I couldn't just lay here waiting for Malcolm to come
