The Tenant

Betrayal....

After one hour Anitha came out from the operating room and told the surgery was successful and he will be moved to the ward immediately. Her grandpa left leaving Aami and also reminding her about the promise she made. She assured him that she will leave immediately once he is settled in the room.

Grandpa : Aami, I hope you won't disappoint me...

Aami : I won't grandpa.

Bence was brought out in a stretcher and was blindfolded. Since he was under sedation she waited until he regained his conscious. Aami has already prepared herself to leave Bence.

Bence woke up and he tries to touch his eyes Aami stopped him from doing so...

Aami : Bence everything will be fine... Just a matter of few hours. Let me call the nurse and inform that you are awake.

Bence held her hand tightly.. " No don't go Aami, please stay with me.

Aami : Bence Iam just moving to the other side of the bed to press the bell switch, they will come to our room.

Bence : No... You are not going anywhere, stay near me.

Aami held his hand and sat beside him. Later the nurse informed that doctor will come to visit him shortly . Aami stood near him holding his hand. Anitha and another doctor came and removed the bandage from his eyes. Aami was excited at the same time worried too . Her grandpa who came back looked at her frowning.

Anitha : The vision will be blurred and will get cleared within 24 hours. Be alert not to get exposed to light and heat. Don't use phone or watch TV for one week. Don't strain your eyes too much . We will bandage the eyes for few more hours and then you will be able to see clearly.

Bence opened his eyes with difficulty and could see Aami only as a shadow. His vision was blurred and the Doctor again blindfolded him so that he does not rub or over strain his eyes. He was asked to take rest.

Bence : I could see only as shadows....

Anitha : It's okay don't worry...

Aami : Anitha sister will he be able to see today...

Anitha : Yes dear.. Within few hours, let him take rest.

Aami : Hmm

All others left the ward except Aami and his valet. Aami told her grandpa that she will leave after one hour.Grandpa told her he will wait outside for her.

Aami : Bence, I need to go now, you take rest.

Bence : Where are you going, stay until my vision is clear. I want to see you Aami

Aami : Bence, trust me I will come back to you.When Iam back don't fail to recognise me by my heartbeat.

Bence felt suspicious from her statement, he had an instinct feeling that she is going to leave him.

Bence : What do you mean...Aami hold me, come near to me. (stretching his hand)

Aami held his hand and hugged him and kissed on his forehead and cheeks. She shoved his hands away and walked out of the room. Bence called out to her....

Aami could hear his heart wrenching call but she had no other option other than ignoring his pleads and calls miserably. she walked out with heavy heart.

Valet : Master, she left .

Bence : Call her... Ask her to come back....

Valet : Master she won't come back , she is going abroad to her parents in UAE . Her marriage has also been fixed.

Bence stood up from the bed and was about to go out.He fell down and kept on calling her at the top of his voice. Valet stopped him.. "Master, be careful... You will get hurt"

Aami's grandpa came to his room

Grandpa : Bence, calm down. If you are grateful for what we have done for you, then I want you to leave my child alone. Don't try to contact her anymore. Please leave once you get back your vision.

Bence : What did Aami say, did she agree to leave me , where did she go.

Grandpa : She agreed to what I told her to. She left you and I want you too to go back to your country and move on with your life.

Bence : I will not believe you, you are lying,. She can't leave me.

Grandpa : She already left Bence and is not coming back to you. I will send your luggage today, you can return back to your home. It's my request please don't try to keep any relationship with Aami. We have already fixed her marriage...

Bence : Marriage! did she agree

Grandpa : of course she will, if she obeyed to leave you then do you think she will not obey to get married. Anyway Bence, take rest.

Bence couldn't believe what grandpa told him. He tried to call Aami but the phone seems switched off. He felt as breathless and surrounded by some sort of pressure. He tried to remove the eye bandage but stopped by the valet.

He patiently waited until his vision was back. After one hour doctors came to his room and removed the eye patch, he was able to see clearly. He could see the doctors,nurse,the valet but not his love who always wanted to get him cured.

Bence tried her on phone, messaged her but all left unattended and unseen.

When grandpa came out of the hospital saw Aami crying inside the car. He wanted to send her back to Bence but no he can't, that will bring shame and dishonor to his son and their family. But his promise to Aami is still there, if she finds herself in love with Bence after few months he will support her. But he strongly believed that she is just confusing an infatuation as love. He would believe so as he definitely didn't know or may be unaware of their past.

Aami : Grandpa, can you give me back my phone.

Grandpa : No child.... Be patient..

They left the hospital and Aami will be sent to UAE shortly . Bence left the hospital next day and was asked to take rest for one week.

It's been one week Bence trying to find Aami, he don't how she look, where she is. Since he was taken to the medihome when he was blind he don't know how to go there. Also he has been warned no requested by her grandpa, not to go back there looking for Aami. So he hesitated to go there. His only means to communicate was phone which is switched off. Bence doubted whether she betrayed him. Otherwise why she is not trying to contact him. Now he doubts ,whether what grandpa told about her marriage was true.

Since Aami is just in her twenties was she just having a time pass with him, was she not serious in their relationship. He remembered how she behaved in last few days. She was indifferent to him, and also she was alert not to be in intense intimacy with him. Was she using him. All mysterious thoughts wandered in him driving him crazy .

While Aami still waited for her tenant, in every moonlit night she stood there at her window sleepless expecting her tenant waiting for her under the banyan tree.

One week passed by she is all set to go to UAE to be with her family. Her parents and siblings are waiting for her eagerly and she had to pretend before them that she is happy and should show that she is successful in her self chosen career. Her exam results will be out within two weeks. She packed her luggage and reached the airport.

Bence tried all his ways to find Aami but all in vain. Her phone is switched off for the past one week. He contacted his assistant in China Mr. Li Jun who asked him to return as he is very much needed there this time. Its time to bid for new projects also it's his elder brother who handles his second brother Wang Lin's business too. So he was very much needed there. Once they all knew about his whereabouts his mother was pestering him to return home.

Bence couldn't believe that Aami has betrayed him, he still remembers her last words that she will come back to him. But he was angry too for her not contacting him. He thought to go back to China for the time being and will send his person to look for her. Bence reached the airport and waited for boarding. Aami also came to same airport to fly to Dubai. After receiving boarding pass she walked to the waiting area..
