Cassie
I had lost track of how long I'd been curled up in bed for when a I heard a quiet knock at my door. "Come in" I called out in a broken voice. I'd stopped crying a while ago, but was still feeling ever bit of the rejected mating still. Seeing my mom poke her head into the room did cheer me up a bit though and I sent a small smile in her direction.
"I know you're probably not up for it, but I figured I'd give you your present before your birthday officially ended. I know it hasn't been the best one but hopefully it will help you fill a bit better" my mom explained as I sat up in bed and she sat down beside me, before passing me a small wrapped box.
"Thank you mom" I said with a smile as I took my time unwrapping the box. I was shocked when I opened it to see a matching earing and necklace set made up of varying sizes of rubies. We weren't the riches of families so I'd never expected such an extravagant gift. "I love them" I whimper as I set them to the side and throw my arms around her, hugging her tightly.
"I knew you would. Me and your father just wanted to do something special for you for such a special birthday. Little did we know it was gonna be such a s**t show" She stated with a sigh that evoked a little giggle from me. My mom didn't cuss often and it was always amusing when she did.
"Yea neither did I... Did dad ever contact the Alpha?" I asked as I finally released her.
"Yes, were all meeting with him in the morning. Your father's already explained the situation to him though and it didn't sound to promising" My mother admitted sadly.
"I'd figured that already. No one can force someone to mate with another person no matter their status and he definitely isn't gonna force the son of his closest friend to do so, especially when he's intended to mate with an Omega" I sigh defeatedly.
"You've got to stop calling yourself an Omega like it's such a bad thing. Look at me and your father; I'm an Omega and he's a Beta and were very happy together. Your father says all the time how he wouldn't be able to live with anyone other than me and always boasts about how proud he is of you" she scolds.
"I know mom it just hurts knowing that that's the main reason I was rejected" I explain hoping she'll understand. I really didn't need a lecture at the moment.
"I know sweetie, I know. I just hate seeing you blame your self for that boys stupidity" she explains giving my hand a little squeeze." But I won't bother you with it any more tonight I know you need your rest and I'm gonna let you get it. We'll talk more about it all in the morning during our meeting. Until then please try and get some rest"
"I will mom" I say leaning over to let her kiss me on the top of the head.
"I love you baby girl" she smiles at me as she stands and heads towards the door.
"I love you too mom" I quietly respond just as she's closing the door behind her.
I didn't get much sleep that night. I tried but all I could do is toss and turn most of the night and when I finally would fall asleep I would just wake up crying and the hurt would hit me all over again. I honestly didn't understand how people could go through this or how he was handling the rejection so well, and that made me hate him for it. I hated him for hurting me and for rejecting me and for the fact that he didn't seem to care at all, but I hated my self too because no matter how much I hated him my wolf still loved him. It felt like a curse I'll be forced to live for the rest of my life and I honestly didn't know if I could live with it.
With one final sob though I finally forced my self to get out of bed. No matter how bad I felt though I couldn't let it show physically. No one approached our alpha without looking your best. Since I obviously wasn't attending school today. I threw on a pair of my skinny jeans, avoiding the ones with the rips, and a nice flowy off the shoulder blouse. After spending a reasonable time on my make up and pulling my hair into a couple of space buns I was ready to go. I stopped just short of the door though as I spotted the necklace and earrings my mother had given me the night before laying on my dress, without a second thought I snatched them up and put them on. There's not really a better time to wear such an expensive gift than to meet with the alpha.
You could tell today held a different air to it as well when I made my way down to the kitchen and breakfast wasn't waiting on me. There was no time for it today we had important things to do and everyone was too stressed to think about anything else. No one said a word either as we all loaded into the car lost in our own thoughts.
It didn't take us long before we reached the alphas house. The moment we parked and exited the car we were being ushered inside and towards his office. He had a beautiful home but we were given no time to actually appreciate it. After a few knock on the door, Stanley as my dad referred to him, ushered us in. "Hi David how are you? And Rebecca you as well?" He greeted my parents practically ignoring my presence.
"We're as good as we can be Stanley, especially with what's occurred with our daughter and Axle" my father stated sternly as we all took a seat in the room.
"Yes trust me I've heard plenty on the topic at hand, both from you and Axle and his father. I must say Cassie there has put us all into a predicament" the alpha stated looking directly at me, and I was shocked by the fact that he was placing the blame on me.
"Sir with all due respect our daughter hasn't done anything wrong. It was Axle who rejected her and started this whole thing" my mother exclaimed looking from me to him.
"Now Rebecca you know I respect your husband and therefore you as well, but you can't expect Axle to mate with an Omega. The boy has a bright future and incredible genes, he must mate with in his class to keep those two things preserved" he said with a slight shrug.
"Stanley I will not stand by as you talk about our daughter in such ways. It doesn't matter if she's a Omega. She top of her class and a good girl, any boy would be lucky to have her especially Axle" My dad growled at him.
"Let me remind you David that though are my friend, I am your Alpha first and you will not speak to me how ever you wish" He said matching my dads growl with even more intensity causing all three of us to cower slightly in submission. It's true when they say alphas have a hold over the members of their pack, even the strongest of betas cower at the power of an Alpha. "This arguing doesn't matter either way though, decisions have already been made. Axle will not be forced to mate Cassie and I'll be sending Cassie to stay with my brother's pack at least till Axle is able to mark Jessica as his mate. It will take unneeded stress off of him and also hopefully help Cassie get over what has happened."
"How can you just send me away!" I exclaimed, speaking for the first time today. "I will not go, I'm not leaving my family and I couldn't care less if my presence stresses Axle out. He deserves it after the pain he's caused me!"
"Young lady! Watch your mouth this instance before you end up in more trouble than your worth" He roared standing up to tower over me. I hold my ground though even if its weakly and refuse to submit to such ridiculous orders.
"No! You know what, go to hell! How can you call your self an Alpha and then send me away for a situation caused by one of your betas! I'm not just something you can throw away and forget. Alphas are suppose to love their pack members equal!" I shot right back, surprising everyone in the room that I'm challenging him.
My confidence doesn't last long though as his hand snaps out and wraps around my throat. "How dare you challenge my authority. You nothing but a weak little Omega, you're lucky I don't just exile you and let you die in the life of a Rouge like you deserve" He growls his face practically touching mine, drawing out a submissive whimper from me and leaving my parents pale and speechless. I almost instantly go limp in his arms, all strength leaving me.
"Exile me then.... I'd rather die than live with the fact that my own mate rejected me and my alpha think less of me than the dirt on his shoe" I admit quietly earning another growl from him.
"No wonder Axle refused a mating with you. You're just as pathetic as he and his father described you" he states tightening his hand around my throat, causing small choked gasps to leave my lips and my mothers pleads and sobs to fill the room. "Maybe I should do you a favor and personally fulfill your wish."
