Chapter 4: Hope

1371 Words
Ezra POV A week has passed since I watched Ellie try to kill herself on screen. I've spent every moment with her, holding her hand, talking to her about anything I can think of. Blaze has said he can sense her wolf but its like there's a wall blocking his way to her. I'm worried that she won't wake up, but that doesn't stop me from trying. The doctor is researching to see if there's a way to wake her up, but he's not as hopeful as I am. I was laying in the hospital bed with Ellie carefully held in my arms when the doctor walked in carrying a small stack of folders. "Alpha, I believe I have found a way to wake her up." He said with a hopeful smile. "But I'm not sure how her parents would feel about it." He said hesitantly. "What do you mean? What did you find?" I asked him as I sat up, carefully adjusting her to lay next to me. "Well there have been a few accounts of people being woken from an extended coma with the help of their mates." He said. "What do I need to do? I don't care what it is, I'll do it. Wait, why wouldn't her parents not like it?" I questioned him. "So in the records, it's noted that the mates remarked the patient and this was what woke them up. The venom from the mate gave their wolf the boost they needed to wake the patient." "But that can't work for us, she's never been marked before. I don't want to mark her without her permission or knowledge! I want to share that special moment with her!" I started to shout, feeling frustrated that he brought an impossible solution. "Alpha, there was one account where the couple was not already mated! If you mark her on the opposite side of her mating mark, it won't hold the mark. It would be temporary and her body and wolf won't reject your venom since you are her mate. That's what the couple did. I just thought Diane and Charles wouldn't like it since their daughter would be bitten and marked without her permission." He rushed through his explanation. I took a deep breath as I digested the information. "Since it's temporary, as you say, then okay, I'll do it." Determination and hope settling in the pit of my stomach. "Even though you are her mate, you two aren't mated so, Diane would have to give consent as it will be a form of treatment. If she agrees, we can proceed." I nodded, understanding. The doctor left to call Diane and I laid down next to Ellie. I swept a lose hair out of her face while gazing over her face. "Soon, Ellie, we can hopefully meet." I whispered to her while another tear slid down my face. ~~~ "If this is the only way you have found after two years, then lets do it. There's nothing else we have found and at this point I just want my daughter back. I don't care how we do it." Diane told us once she arrived and heard the doctor's explanation. "Okay, Alpha, there's no time like now, so lets do this!" He exclaimed. I nodded and smiled at them both. "So since the mating mark occurs on the left side since its closest to the heart, you will need to bite her on the right side of her neck. You will need to bite deep enough for your venom to reach her bloodstream and you will need to hold it. Your wolf should be able to guide you in performing it properly." I took a deep breath and looked down at Ellie. I took in her beautiful features and tilted her head to the side. Blaze, do you know what were doing? I asked my wolf. I feel like this is what we need to do. I think the doctor is right. My instincts are telling me that this is how we can break through to her. Okay, bud, lets do this. Let's meet our mate! I leaned down and took a deep breath of her delicious scent and I placed a a few kisses on her neck, searching for the right spot. Once I found it, my canines came forth and I let Blaze and his instincts take over. Blaze let out a rumbling purr and pierced our teeth into her supple skin. Ellie POV Time. Time didn't seem to exist here. Raine and I couldn't tell you how long we've been stuck here like this. It seems like forever. We never felt tired, so we never slept. One thing we did know was that our mate always seemed to be touching us, by our side. I remember the first time the webs of electricity suddenly disappeared, I panicked because I thought they had left us. Raine tried to be optimistic and reassure me that they would be back, but I could tell she was concerned too. Then the webs came back after what seemed like a short time and we both breathed in relief, our nerves instantly calming down. After that, we realized a pattern started where the sparks would end for awhile, then start back up. It seemed to be the same amount of time, but we couldn't tell for sure. I noticed Raine would keep getting up and prance back and forth, sniffing the air like a wild animal. I had asked her what she was doing. She told me that she could sense our mate's wolf, but it was like a wall blocking her way to them. She began to lay there whining. I went and sat with her, not knowing if we should be separated at all. I touched the air where she said there was a wall and I felt an invisible resistance. Suddenly, I felt a piercing pain on the side of my neck. I screamed out and touched the spot. My hand came away with blood on it. I looked at Raine in a panic, but she was calm and watching. Like she knew what was happening. Before I could ask her anything, my neck started to feel like it was burning with a fire that was slowly spreading throughout my body. Tears rained down my face as I was screaming in pain. It felt like I couldn't breathe. I couldn't get my lungs to work. As my vision started to darken, a piercing white light floods my vision. Once it cleared, a huge black wolf stood before Raine, staring at her. Then, darkness fell. Diane POV I feel like I should look away, but I can't. Marking a mate, in any way, is such an intimate and private thing, but I couldn't make myself turn away. If there was a chance my baby woke up, I wanted to be there, I wanted to see her wake up myself. As Ezra sank his canines into her neck, her body immediately tensed, then relaxed. After a moment her body jerked up, arching her back, almost like she was being pulled up by her waist by an invisible force. Her eyes shot open suddenly, but there was a blank look to her eyes, like she wasn't really seeing anything. Her mouth opened like she was screaming but no sound came. Her whole body started to shake. Her eyes slowly rolled back until all that was seen was the whites of her eyes. Ezra finally removed his teeth after what seemed like forever, but was only moments. He had a panicked look on his face as he watched her seize. Then, as if nothing had happened, her whole body relaxed and her eyes slid close. She laid there perfectly still, like she wasn't just having a seizure, like she was only sleeping. If it weren't for the monitors, I would've thought she was dead, how still and peaceful she looked. "WHAT THE F*CK JUST HAPPENED?!" Ezra screamed at the doctor. He looked angry, but I could see in his eyes that he was terrified. - "His Sleeping Mate" by Brea May Amor exclusively for Stary LTD.
