Gabriella’s smile was slight, but it was the best smile Blaez had ever seen. Her eyes opened a little wider and they looked around with stalking confusion. “Why are we in a hospital?”
Blaez faltered, swallowing hard. “Um... well, uh...” He looked over to Anne then Ezra, his eyes bleeding tears as an unavoidable wave of last week’s memory engulfed his mind.
Anne immediately jumped from her chair and went to the other side of Gabriella’s bed, touching her arm. “Do you remember anything about what happened?”
She turned to Anne, squinting, “No. What happened? Was there an accident?”
