Three months had passed, and life in the Crescent Moon Pack had changed in ways no one could have expected.
Lila had always been strong, independent, and capable of handling herself in any situation. But now, as she stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom, running her hands over her swollen belly, she felt something new—something softer, more fragile.
She was carrying life.
A pup.
Kieran’s pup.
She smiled to herself, tracing gentle circles over the curve of her stomach. Werewolf pregnancies progressed faster than human ones, and with only two months left, her body had already changed significantly.
And Kieran?
He had not calmed down.
If anything, his protectiveness had tripled.
At first, the pack had been confused by his overwhelming need to be near her, to guard her at all times, to growl at literally anyone who got too close. But now that the truth was out, they understood.
Every wolf knew that an expecting mate was the most precious, most fiercely protected thing in a pack. And an Alpha’s daughter? Carrying the future of the pack’s bloodline?
Kieran wasn’t overreacting—he was simply being a mate.
Even still, Lila was growing restless.
She turned away from the mirror and pulled on a loose sweater before heading downstairs. The packhouse was busy with its usual morning routines—warriors gathering for training, omegas preparing breakfast, pups running through the halls.
The moment she stepped into the main hall, every single pair of eyes landed on her.
Kieran had made rules.
One: No one was to let her out of their sight when he wasn’t around.
Two: She was forbidden from shifting until after the birth.
Three: If she so much as winced, sighed, or breathed wrong, someone was to report it to him immediately.
Lila sighed. Ridiculous.
She had barely taken three steps before a familiar presence appeared at her side.
"You’re supposed to be resting," Kieran murmured, wrapping an arm around her waist as he pressed a kiss to her temple.
Lila rolled her eyes. "I just came downstairs."
"Exactly. Which means you left the bed. Alone." His voice was serious, but the warmth in his touch betrayed him.
Lila smirked, turning to face him fully. "Are you going to start carrying me everywhere now?"
Kieran didn’t even hesitate. "If that’s what it takes."
She groaned. "Kieran—"
"Lila." His golden eyes flickered with amusement, but beneath it, there was real concern. "You’re carrying our pup. Humor me."
She huffed but leaned into him anyway. "Fine."
Kieran smiled, rubbing slow circles over her back. The rest of the pack had already gone back to their duties, though she caught more than a few knowing glances. They all expected this now. Kieran was a mate on a mission, and no one was going to stand in his way.
"At least let me go outside for some fresh air," she bargained.
Kieran narrowed his eyes, considering. "With me."
"Of course with you," she laughed, taking his hand. "You never leave my side anyway."
His smirk was all teeth. "Glad you’re finally understanding."
With a playful eye-roll, Lila let him lead her outside, into the cool morning air.
Even with his overprotectiveness, even with his constant hovering, she wouldn’t change a thing.
Because every touch, every look, every breath he took was for her and their pup.
And she had never felt more loved.
