“And that was the motive?” said Jon.
“Millions of them, apparently,” said Robinson evenly.
While Robinson was once talking Herbert had been looking on the shelf at the back of the man’s desk. He registered one thing and then regarded at Robinson. “We recognize your help.” He gave the man his card and asked him to name if he had whatever to add.
Robinson fingered the card and said, “So any notion how he escaped? I thought DB used to be impenetrable.”

Back in the car Herbert settled into his seat and closed his eyes.
