MY MISTAKE

537 Words
KINGSTON I woke up very early, and never knew how to approach her about Dokay’s pregnancy, which is why I married Dokay. I had to leave a note on her bed telling her about the incident and assuring her it was all a mistake. But I still can not judge myself . We have been together for four years yet have no children. It was not that I betrayed her, but Dokay played a fast one on me. My mother is happy and that matters to me too. My name has always been Kingston Davis. I have never lust after another woman except my wife Barbara, but Dokay came into the picture and everything changed. I had to leave the hotel as soon as possible even though I had an executive meeting with my staff at the hotel. Barbara never knew that the hotel was owned by me, so I paid the cab driver to bring her to the hotel. Sydney City is my second home after London, where I lived with my wife Barbara. Leaving her that note was devastating but I had no choice. When I got home, Dokay was still sleeping soundly on the bed. She must have been stressed out from the fight she had with Barbara and the whole birthday celebration. I got my cup of creamy coffee, made by one of Dokay's maids, took a sip, pulled my laptop from its bag , dived straight to my unfinished business. Went through my emails, scrolled through some files, then a notification popped up on my computer. I was scared to open it, my mind drew back to Barbara, my wife, who knew if this message was from her, “ Has she seen the note, how did she receive the news? ” Questions keep trolling my mind , “ but it was a mistake, that's what I called it. I glanced at Dokay, still covered with the thick soft duvet, “ no I can not leave her, she is pregnant with my child, no baby of mine will be born out of wedlock let alone the Davis Dynasty. I stared at the notification which was on the left bar of my laptop, the guts to open the message failed me, I joggled through my mind about Barbara, my wife, “ she left too quickly and quietly, it was unlike her, I glanced at Dokay, who was now awake, sitting pretty on the bed with the mark on her face, from the slap Barbara gave her. “ The mother of my child”, I thought. she is my responsibility. I have to be present for her and my baby, “ but then why am I constantly thinking about Barbara? “ You are acting weird, Kingston, I have been up , looking at you, it seems something is eating you up. Dokay asked , then made her way out of bed, came closer and said , “ I hope you are not in any way thinking about her, Kingston. She is your past, your baby and I are your present. She scoffed and gave me a pat on my back while I watched the door click shut against her as she left the room.
