Chapter 4 - Pregnant

1196 Words
When Aerin woke up in the morning, she couldn’t find the hand that wrapped around her. As usual, that man always went first. Aerin tried to get up and sit to observe her surroundings. Kevin’s coffee-scented perfume still lingered. Aerin got out of bed, trying to neutralize her feelings as usual. She opened the curtains and was immediately greeted by morning light, with rows of skyscrapers lined up like paintings. She took a breath. Her relationship with Kevin looked simple from the outside, just like an ordinary couple. However, eventhough they shared a bed every night, but having a deep talk was such an impossible thing to do. Kevin was too mysterious. He was unreachable. Aerin could hug him every night, but the man still felt so far away. Aerin looked over to the bed to find her phone ringing softly. It was Huges who called. Aerin remained silent for a few moments, feeling lazy to answer the phone. She pressed the green button with her finger. “Yes, Mr. Andreas?” Huges’ cold and stiff voice was heard. “I’m in the lobby. I’ll wait for you for 40 minutes.” Aerin sighed lazily upon hearing Huges’ mysterious voice in a different way, as if there was a secret hidden in that tone, a secret that would be fatal to be revealed. “Okay, I’ll be down soon.” Before Huges could answer, Aerin had already hung up. Hypocrite. Aerin knew what was in her heart. She secretly hoped that Kevin would accompany her, not Huges. Although she knew that hope was highly unlikely, Aerin still wished for it. The feeling from Kevin’s embrace last night still felt all over her body. Aerin shook her head, wanting to get rid of that sentimental feeling for today only. Kevin and everything about him always made her confused. *** “You are not sick, Ms. Camerry. You are perfectly fine.” Aerin’s forehead furrowed. What did it mean that all the nausea, cramping, and piercing pain in her stomach, and the pounding headache couldn’t be called sick? Seeing the perplexity on Aerin’s face, the female doctor with the name tag Dr. Stefany opened her mouth to explain more. “You’re pregnant. Congratulation.” Aerin instantly froze. Time seemed to stop and everything turned dark. She didn’t even hear the doctor’s words explaining that the gestational age has reached two weeks. Her head was blank. Suddenly, she couldn’t predict the future that was right in front of her, because she was busy guessing what Kevin’s reaction would be. “I will give you a referral to a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. You can get a more detailed examination of your baby’s condition and schedule a check-up. You will also be given a prescription according to your fetus’ condition.” Aerin nodded briefly with an empty stare when she took a sheet of paper so that she could directly go to an obstetrics and gynecology specialist today. She left the doctor’s room with limp shoulders and a hopeless gleam in her eyes. Meanwhile, Huges who was sitting in the waiting room approached her. “Give me the report. I will report it to Mr. Lawson.” Aerin remained motionless while a nurse standing next to the door began calling the next patient. Meanwhile, Huges had taken the report in his hand. The man read it seriously. “Obstetrics and gynecology specialist?” Aerin didn’t say a word, but she was sure that Huges understood her situation. “You’re pregnant?” Aerin took her report back. “I’ll tell Kevin myself.” “Mr. Lawson is very busy. You can’t meet him today.” “Then I’ll call him.” “Even picking up the phone is impossible for him, he doesn’t even have time to go to the bathroom.” Aerin sighed disappointedly. So how could she tell Kevin all of this? She turned to Huges, assessing his expression. She had to tell him about her pregnancy herself. Although Huges’ facial expression showed that he could be relied on, Aerin wanted to tell Kevin herself. She wanted to see Kevin’s reaction. “I will accompany you to the obstetrics and gynecology specialist,” Huges said. Aerin bit her lip. She really wanted to go with Kevin. However, Huges’ gaze already explained that Kevin was very busy and didn’t have time to take her there. As the CEO of the biggest hotel in all of New York, Kevin was very busy. He never relaxed every day and always came home late because of working overtime. Therefore, Kevin needed to indulge his desire to control himself every day. “Alright, I’ll let you inform Kevin about this, but I have a special request. I want to go to the obstetrics and gynecology specialist with Kevin,” Aerin said. At least Aerin had to choose one. She couldn’t be greedy and make Kevin uncomfortable. While waiting for Huges’ response, Aerin looked down and rubbed her still-flat belly. “Alright. I’ll schedule an appointment for both of you to check the baby’s condition,” Huges said. Aerin smiled happily at that moment. A burst of space in her heart exploded with enthusiasm. It didn’t matter if Kevin wanted to hide this child just like what he did to her, it would be enough for her. Imagining that she would give birth to the beloved baby of Kevin made Aerin very happy. “Well then, I’ll take you back to the apartment,” Huges said. Aerin looked at his poker face, gave a faint smile, and nodded. “Sure.” *** “What? She’s pregnant?” Huges nodded and waited for the next response from the woman in front of him. “You know what to do, don’t you, Huges?” Huges bowed respectfully. “I will do it.” The woman, Amanda Harlot, was the only woman who could match Kevin Lawson’s status. Besides, her beauty which resembled a supermodel and her perfect fashion sense would always make everyone couldn’t take their eyes of her. Yeah, not only coming from a super rich family as Kevin’s, she’s also a popular influencer. Her eyes, adorned with expensive makeup, narrowed. “How dare that lowly staff have a child with my fiancé.” She took her tea cup on the table and drank elegantly. Amanda crossed her long legs and didn’t give a f**k to all the men in this restaurant who were looking at her. She had nothing to do woth them, because all she had in her head was Kevin Lawson, a man who would never escape her grasp. She even succeeded in placing spies around Kevin. Amanda threw her glare at Hughes, then tossed a praising smile at the man. “You have to go back to Kevin’s side again, Huges.” Huges got up from his chair and bowed. “Will do, Miss.” As his back moved away from Amanda’s view, she felt enthusiasm rather than anger about the unpleasant news. This was a great opportunity to draw Kevin towards her. “Aerin Camerry. I will get rid of you so I’ll become the only woman for Kevin.”
