Huges: ‘I already delivered this news to Mr. Lawson.’
This was the message that Aerin had been waiting for since she arrived at the apartment. It was already night, and there was no sign that Kevin would come home soon. Usually, he would send her a message saying what time he would come home.
Aerin was waiting for the next message that Huges was writing on the other side. Her heart was beating fast and warm. Maybe Kevin would say that she should wait for him at the apartment, or maybe he was angry because Aerin didn’t tell him directly.
Unconsciously, Aerin smiled in the middle of the expansive room. She was eagerly awaiting the message from Huges. The sound of her phone indicating that a message from Huges had come almost made Aerin jump.
Huges: ‘I will deliver the message from Mr. Lawson to you, Ms. Camerry. Please listen carefully.’
Huges: ‘Abort it, I don’t care.’
The two messages that came together made Aerin freeze. She scanned every letter on the screen of her phone.
Five seconds later, Aerin’s hand holding the phone trembled. Suddenly, her breath was stuck in her throat, and her lungs felt like they were going to burst.
She read the message again, and nothing had changed. The words were still the same.
What happened? Why did Kevin say those hurtful words?
A dizzying feeling hit her head, and Aerin found it difficult to breathe. Her trembling fingers ran across the keyboard to call Kevin.
Not available. Aerin called again, but the voice on the other end kept repeating the same sentence. She switched to calling Huges. It took a long time for the phone to connect.
“Hello, Mr. Andreas. Is Kevin with you?” Aerin said in a hurry. She didn’t want to waste time. She had to make sure whether Kevin really said that to her.
“Of course. Mr. Lawson is discussing with a colleague from Dubai. It’s best not to disturb him now.”
Aerin’s chest rose and fell. Her eyes gleamed with fear. “I just want to make sure about the message you delivered. Did Kevin really say that?”
“Of course. I am his personal secretary. I convey what Mr. Lawson says. He doesn’t have time to deal with your pregnancy.”
Aerin’s heart seemed to have stopped beating. It felt like thousands of hot needles were suddenly piercing her head endlessly. She never imagined that Kevin would say those words to her.
“Give him the phone. I have to talk to him.”
“Ms. Camerry.” His voice was several times colder and piercing. “I already said that Mr. Lawson doesn’t want to be disturbed. He will convey it himself. If you still want to be his mistress, then abort the fetus and act like nothing happened.”
Aerin was stunned. She didn’t move at all, even though the call had ended. Her eyes stared blankly ahead. Indeed, she couldn’t digest what Huges had just conveyed to her.
How could the man who had been holding her all night say such a cruel thing? This was their own flesh and blood. Their child conceived from their love all this time.
“No. You can’t ask me to abort it, Kevin. This is our child. You can’t do it,” she had exclaimed.

Aerin sat overnight on the couch waiting for Kevin to come home. Her eyes blankly staring at the television screen in front of her.
Until morning approached, Kevin didn’t come back. Aerin’s eyes rolled as she gazed at the untouched apartment door. Her emotions were in turmoil. Her mind was constantly at war, repeating all of Huges’ words on the phone.
“CEO of Moon Light Hotel, Kevin Lawson, will be engaged to a top influencer, Amanda Harlot. They are said to have been in a relationship for a year and plan to get married.”
The sound of a broadcaster interrupted Aerin’s thoughts. She quickly turned her head towards the television screen, which showed a picture of Kevin hugging a beautiful woman at a party.
Once again, Aerin was frozen. Her breaths quickened, and her entire body trembled. So, was it because of this that Kevin asked her to abort the baby?
“Why is this happening, Kevin? How could you be so cruel?” The tears finally overflowed from her reddened eyes. A sense of humiliation attacked Aerin’s chest.
What did Kevin think of her all this time? She had followed all his wishes to keep their relationship a secret from the public, but Kevin revealed his engagement with another woman out of nowhere.
What kind of nonsense was this?
Aerin called Kevin again, but his phone was still inactive. She repeatedly called him, but there was no answer.
“You asked me to abort our child so you could be engaged to another woman?” She gripped her phone tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks and anger furrowing her brow.
She had to talk to Kevin!
So, Aerin went back to her room. She changed her clothes and got ready for work. Her petite face was still swollen and pale. It was still early in the day, and the office was still very quiet, but Kevin usually had been in his room.
She left the luxurious apartment without caring that her head felt heavy from not sleeping all night.

As Aerin had expected, the hotel was still very quiet when she arrived. The staff who lived in the pavilion behind the hotel were still wandering around to enjoy the morning air or exercise.
With fast steps, Aerin headed to the CEO’s room on the second floor. Her arrival was greeted with a flat gaze from Huges at the secretary’s desk. Aerin quickly stepped forward to enter Kevin’s room.
As she had suspected, Huges blocked Aerin in front of the door. “You can’t get in.”
Gritting her teeth, Aerin replied sharply to the gaze. “I’m sure there is no client in this early morning, Mr. Andreas. I want to talk to Mr. Lawson.”
Huges’s sharp chin lifted. “I’ve said it repeatedly. Mr. Lawson doesn’t want to be disturbed. He doesn’t have time to talk about your pregnancy —”
“No time for my pregnancy but plenty of time to reveal his engagement to another woman?!” Aerin was sure Kevin could hear her voice from inside.
Huges didn’t argue anymore. His face was still so rigid, as if he had many things to hide. Huges stepped forward, then bowed to look into Aerin’s eyes.
“You know he didn’t want a baby from the beginning. So it’s pointless for you to demand it. You’ll only get hurt.” He then stepped back and looked at the big door in front of him. “Please come in.”
Aerin was still frozen. Her two legs were trembling when Huges opened the door, and the sight of Kevin’s room flooded her vision.
She walked forward with a blank expression and a faltering voice. Her chest throbbed painfully as if pricked by thousands of needles.
Kevin was there. Sitting at his big desk, staring at his laptop screen. His elbows were resting on the table with his hands clasped in front of his chest. He just glanced at Aerin for a moment before returning to his work. As if to emphasize that her presence was not important to him.
“I want to talk,” Aerin’s anger and disappointment merged in her heart. She wanted to scream, but couldn’t hold back the tears that were pressing at the corners of her eyes.
Kevin raised his face and stared at Aerin sharply. “Didn’t I give you a message last night?”
