Olivia as Interim CEO

518 Words
The conference room was eerily silent. Hundreds of employees filled the space, their faces tense, eyes flickering with unspoken questions. Some whispered among themselves, speculation running wild, while others simply sat, waiting—hoping for an answer that made sense. At the front of the room, Olivia Cole stood tall, the weight of the moment pressing against her shoulders. Dressed in a sharp navy-blue suit, her posture was impeccable, her expression unreadable. But beneath the surface, exhaustion tugged at her—long, sleepless nights filled with phone calls, dead ends, and a growing fear she couldn’t shake. Because Adrian Cole—the man who built this empire, the ruthless CEO they had feared, respected, and, in some cases, despised—was missing. Two weeks. That’s how long it had been since anyone had seen him. At first, the whispers were minor. He’d missed a meeting. Canceled a call. But as the days passed with no word, no sighting, no *explanation*, the tension inside Cole Industries reached a boiling point. The media had caught wind of the situation, investors were growing uneasy, and now, Olivia stood before a restless company demanding answers she didn’t have. Clearing her throat, she finally spoke. “I know there has been a lot of concern regarding Mr. Cole’s whereabouts. We understand how unsettling this situation is, and I want to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to locate him.” A murmur rippled through the crowd. One of the executives, Richard Kane, leaned forward, his graying brows furrowed. “And what exactly does ‘everything in our power’ entail?” Olivia met his gaze without hesitation. “A private investigative team has been hired. Law enforcement is also involved, though discreetly. At this time, we have no reason to believe foul play is involved.” A scoff came from the back of the room. “So, what? He just *left*? That doesn’t make sense.” No, it didn’t. Adrian Cole wasn’t the type of man to disappear without a trace. He was calculated, meticulous. His entire day was planned to the second. If he had left willingly, there had to be a reason—one Olivia couldn’t begin to understand. And yet, something about this felt… *off*. She tightened her grip on the podium. “Until Mr. Cole is found, operations will continue as usual. Effective immediately, I have been appointed as interim CEO.” The room erupted. “Interim? Does that mean you think he’s not coming back?” “Is the company at risk?” “What if someone *made* him disappear?” Olivia raised a hand, commanding silence. “Cole Industries will not fall apart. Not under my watch. Our focus remains the same—stability and success. I expect every single one of you to uphold that standard.” Her voice was sharp, unwavering. The room quieted, though the tension lingered like a storm cloud waiting to break. Olivia inhaled slowly, forcing herself to remain composed. *Adrian, where the hell are you?* Because whatever was happening… She had a feeling this was just the beginning.
