The next morning, as the sunlight shun through Ella’s bedroom, her eyes fluttered open, she turned to the other side as the sunlight pierced through her eyes. All of a sudden she jolted awake as the memories of the night before the bar,
the rain, the car, and finally, Kai’s quiet presence on her couch came flooding back.
She got out of bed, She opened her door, peeked into the living room, and saw him. Kai was still asleep on the couch, the blanket she had given him now a mess of tangled folds around his legs. The sight of him, so peaceful and vulnerable, sent a warm flutter through her chest. She went in front of him, she got on her knees and leaned closer to him. She smiled and stared at his face, she stretched her hand forward to touch his face and suddenly he opened his eyes.
“Good Morning,” he said, his voice husky with sleep as rose up to sit on the couch
"Mor.....ning"Ella replied feeling embarrassed.
Ella stood up from her position with her face like a tomato and left for her room.
"why is she blushing"Kai said to himself as he smiled at her direction.
As Ella got to her room she closed her door and put her back against it.
"Oh my gosh, why did I do that, it's so embarrassing" she said to herself as her hands on the chest.
Then she heard a knock on her door when she opened it she saw Kai.
"Ummm..... I need your phone to call a cab, I left mine in my car"Kai said.
"Oh okay let me get it" She said as she went into her room and brought out her phone. She gave the phone to Kai and he thanked her.
The cab called it had arrived Kai thanked her for last night and was about to leave when he turned-
"Give me your phone number" he said."I need to return the pyjamas"
"Okay..."Ella replied
She wrote her phone number in a piece of paper and gave it to him.
He took the paper from her and gave her a smile as he turned to leave.
He opened the door and he saw a lady hands hanging in the air, she was about to knock on the door. He was startled to see someone, the lady's eyes travelled from the man standing Infront of her to Ella.
Good morning" Kai greeted her. He turned back one last time to look at Ella and he left.
The lady who was Infront was Lexy Ella's best friend.
Lexy stared at Ella with an intense gaze as she entered the apartment.
Lexy was the first to speak, her voice a low, disbelieving whisper. "Ella... who was that?"
Ella finally looked up, her expression a mix of embarrassment and defeat. She took a deep breath, knowing there was no way to lie her way out of this.
"That's the guy from the bar," she confessed.
Lexy's jaw dropped. She stepped inside, pushing the door shut behind her with a soft click. "The one you went to a hotel with?.
"Yes, he ran out of gas," Ella mumbled, her voice barely audible. "He stayed on the couch. Nothing happened."
Lexy's eyes narrowed. She leaned against the door, her arms crossed over her chest. "Ella, what in the world is going on?"
Ella knew she couldn't hide anything now. The night before, her impromptu sleepover with Kai, the shocking confrontation at the pub... everything came pouring out in a torrent of words. She told Lexy about Ryan's phone call, his golf buddy, and the way Kai's face had changed when he saw her. She confessed that Kai was not only a stranger from a bar, but her boyfriend's best friend.
When she was finished, the room was silent. Lexy’s face was a study in shock, her disbelief slowly giving way to a fierce, protective anger. She went to Ella and hugged her tightly.
"That jerk," Lexy muttered, her voice muffled against Ella’s shoulder. "That selfish, arrogant jerk."
"I know," Ella whispered, relief washing over her. "I know."
Lexy pulled away and looked her in the eye, her expression serious. "Ella, what are you going to do now? You can't just pretend this didn't happen."
Ella went into lexy's arm and she cuddled her.
