It was already dawn when I reached my territory just seven days after I departed here. Wonder why? It takes four days to reach the place since I was kind of lost at first and three days to get back here. I slowed down and went straight to the Medical Wing of the pack house where my Mom is confined. I never knocked the door and just opened it hastily I saw that there was a nurse and of course the pack doctor, Jameson who intsantly bowed down when they saw me.

“Glad to see you back Alpha,” greeted Doctor Jameson. I nodded at him and gave him the herb that he asks for. When I held it, he instantly recognized it and accepted it using both of his hands.

“You need not to worry Alpha, your Mom will fully heal tomorrow, I assure you that.”

I nodded and gave him a go signal and soon, I was alone in my Mom’s room. I went beside her bed and reached for her hand. I exhaled loudly as the hollow in my heat constantly bothers me.

“Mom, don’t I have a mate? I mean, I may sound like I am whining today but I never aactually had the couraage to voice this out to anyone. I guess the Goddess did not gave me a pair. How do you think about it Mom? Yeah, I know you willl stay stop being ridiculous and look harder but honestly Mom, I am now losing my hope. I don’t know when is the exact time that I will believe that my life is just a crap.”

After I made sure that Mom is stable, I head back to my house to take a bath and change my clothes. I know you wonder why I need to own a house when I can just live with Mom and Dad or the pack house, but I actually have this house built when I was 18 when I became the Alpha of the pack after my Dad stepped down. I was really looking forward to have a mate since then but look at me now, no one came.

I turned the faucet knob and soon I felt the warm water cascading my body like soothing rain. It makes me feel calm. I closed my eyes and held my breath as I let the water directly hit my face. I took my time to clean myself and I draped a white towel on my hips before I went out of the bathroom.

I wore my usual get-up, a cotton shirt and black pants. I checked the fridge before I grabbed a can of juice and I headed out. I am lazy to do the cooking so I guess I will just have whatever food is ready at the pack house. I really want to sleep now since a week long of travel by foot is no joke but I have a llot of things to do because I have been away for a week too.

When I was at the pack house, my pack members greeted me and I just gave them a nod. I know it’s rude but they are used to it. When I reached the kitchen I found Winnah, a 45 year old Omega who was cooking some pancakes.

“Good morning Alpha. Do you want something else for breakfast?” she asked as she placed a plate with pile of pancakes drizzled in maple syrup. I just shook my head and started digging in and in no time, I am finished with my breakfast.

I headed straight to my office. As soon as I saw my table I felt like there is a need to glue myself there all day. Well, I guess I need to forget the desire I have for sleep. I started reading all the letters for me. Some of them are from the nearby pack, thanking me for the help I extended while some are from the businesses. I was working with the proposals when I heard knocks at my door. I know who is behind – thanks to my wolf sense – and so I let the person come inside which is my beta.

“Good morning Alpha,” greeted he with a bow.

“There is nothing so good in the morning Marfori. Get straight to the point,” I said without even looking at him. I am really determined to finish my work as soon as possible so that I can sleep.

“Actually, you are somewhat right about that. It’s a problem…”

“Like the usual,” I said, cutting his sentence. When I looked at him, I know that he is just putting up with my attitude.

“Don’t look at me like that Hayden Marfori and just tell me.” He sighed then nodded. I guess he knows that prolonging this will make no difference.

“You see while you were away we have an intruder…”

“What?!” my voice boomed and echoed in the corners of the room and I even slapped the table so hard that it cracked.

My beta just nodded and continued. Whoever came here must be so powerful to challenge me – the strongest Alpha. This pack will not be most feared for nothing.

“As a matter of fact, I waited for you to wait for your verdict while the culprit is being held captive. We really think that the culprit is a spy and not a rogue. No traceable scent and headed straight from the south border. I see that the culprit really has some gut, well what do we expect.”

“Did you torture the culprit?”

“As I said, I really wait for you to do that. We kind of do a light interrogation but no words were spilled. We had placed the culprit in the special prison in the south and used the chain laced with silver.”

Oh hell! The more the reason that I can’t go to sleep. I can’t just let this matter slide nor oversee it lightly. We never know if there is someone out there who tries to challenge my authority.

“Lead the way,” I said and my beta just nodded then we started to waalk out from my office.

It takes around 20 minutes before we reached south. All the weres that we have seen along the way bows their heads as we passed by them. When we were in front of the special prison, Aquil – my gamma, bowed her head and proced to open the prison cell.

“Alpha, the culprit is now awake and is ready to be interrogated,” reported one of the warriors.

I signalled all the warriors to wait for us outside and I went inside with Hayden.

“What the fvck! Why did you even poured that bucket of freezing water?!” I heard that from a… woman? I thought it was a man. Hayden switched on the lights and the whole place was illuminated.

I saw a woman tied on the wooden chair using the chain with silver.

“Pay respect to the Alpha. Maybe your life will still be saved,” said Hayden.

“The fvck with your Alpha! You held me in this prison for too long. No food and everything and then tell me to respect a late comer?”

Before all of us could even react, Aquil already slapped the woman. She sure has the guts like Hayden said.

I went near her and then I smelled something different. She isn’t a rogue since she does not smell rotten but flowers and dew? What pack does she came from.

“Listen to me,” I commanded in my Alpha tone. “Why are you here and where did you came from?” I queried.

She shook her head in order to pull all her hair away from her face. She looked at me in the eye, a clear disrespect but I was never offended the slightest. Before me is the most beautiful maiden that my eyes have ever laid upon. My heart beat erratically and my wolf jumped and frenzied inside my head.

She looked at me while her pouty lips were parted and I know that my eyes are now changing colors. I sniffed the air once again and I confirmed my claim.

“Mate”

I heard gasps from my second and third in command but none of it take my attention off of her. I stretched out my arm as I tried to touch her face only to be disappointed when she looked away. My wolf whimpered in my head as it felt the indirect rejection of our mate.

“How long did you keep her here?” I asked Hayden.

“Four days…” my heart dropped to my stomach when I heard that. That was too much.

“Without food and water?! What are you waiting for? Let your Luna die? Take off that chain, feed her and let the pack doctor tend her wounds.”
