One Week Later,
The room was thick with tension. Kate sat beside her brother, Jack, her fingers gripping his cold, pale hand. His face, which was once full of life and laughter, was now almost lifeless, his chest rising and falling with weak labored breaths. Every small movement seemed like a battle his body was struggling to win. The sight of her brother made Kate’s heart clench painfully.
Kate couldn't control her tears after remembering how close she was to losing him. She couldn’t imagine her world without Jack in it, and the fear of losing him gnawed at her. How God could be so relentless and merciless.
