The doctor gave Brix a final onceover from head to toe. “I’ve done all I can here. Why don’t you rest and I’ll call for an ambulance to come pick you up to take you to the medical center?”
Brix tried to shake his head, but stopped. He was on the verge of passing out. “I really need to…to get back to the tunnel system. I can’t stay here. We all know that. I need to get back to where I belong.”
Dr. Shavers placed a hand on his shoulder. “Let’s check you out first. You can’t go back in your current condition.”
