Following National Service in the RAF Michael returned to banking, until an opportunity arose to pursue a career in writing. After working as a press officer for several electrical engineering companies, he was asked to set up a central press office as a group press officer for an engineering company. From there he moved on to become publicity manager for a fixed wing and helicopter charter company, where he was involved in making a film of the company’s activities at home and overseas.
He became so interested in filming that he joined up with a partner to make industrial films for several years, before ending his career handling research publicity for a national gas transmission company.
