Three weeks passed in a blur. The binding between Evie and Victoria continued to fade as Victoria healed, and Evie's strength slowly returned. The council kept their word and sent a Luna instructor, a stern woman named Iris who had trained dozens of Lunas over her long life. Iris was nothing like Victoria. Where Victoria was harsh but caring, Iris was cold and demanding. She put Evie through endless lessons on pack law, dispute resolution, emotional counseling, resource management, and a hundred other things Evie had never considered. "A Luna is the pack's mother, sister, confidante, and judge," Iris explained on the first day. "You must be all of these things at once while maintaining your own identity. It is the hardest job in the werewolf world." "More than being Alpha?" Evie asked.
