"I am coming," Evie said when they finalized the team.
"No," Gideon said immediately. "You are staying here with Hope where it is safe."
"Someone needs to know what to look for in those documents," Evie argued. "I have been studying council procedures and protocols for months. I know what official records look like versus personal conspiracy notes."
"She is right," Victoria said. "We need her expertise."
Gideon looked like he wanted to argue more, but he could not deny the logic. "Fine. But you stay behind me at all times. The second things go wrong, you run. Understood?"
