Chapter 5

Chase’s POV

I wanted to be able to help Mia, but Alpha James said no to training. I do not agree with what

what he is doing. He is a sick man, but I only stayed because since Mia was kidnapped, I could

not let her be alone. That was why I got Lucy to look after her since Alpha James would not let

any male close to Mia in general. I feel like I must protect Mia, I may not be her father, but I would

ensure she at least had a father figure whilst she was here. I should think about helping her

escape especially before she turns 18. Maybe, the best time would be when Alpha James and

Callum have gone to see the black witch. If we do escape, I will need to bring Lucy. Lucy has

been nothing but helpful and being Mia’s only friend, cared for her when she became injured from

all the torture that Courtney and Noah beat on Mia.

Flashback

I was previously raised in a small pack known as the Moon Pack. We were a small but happy

pack, it had only about 100 people in the pack. The Alpha and Luna there were the most gracious

people I had known. Even though we were small, we were all strong and had unique abilities. We

were closely related to the Crescent Moon Pack and they were basically our sister pack. My time

at the pack, I grew up to become a warrior and then subsequently became the Head Warrior

there. I thought I was the luckiest man in the world when I met my mate, Ella. She was beautiful

and tall at 5’8. She was an Omega, but I didn’t care to be honest. We were so happy together, but

that bliss ended very soon. Rogues and witches had attacked our pack, I was training the

warriors at the time when there was a loud piercing scream. Some of us ran to get the women,

children and the elderly into the packhouse and keep them safe, but it was too late. I had

managed to find Ella and got her to start getting some of the elderly and children to the

packhouse. I was tearing down rogues left, right and centre, but it seemed like it was endless.

I was in the middle of fighting another rogue and that was when I felt my other half torn, it was

the most excruciating pain I had felt. I could not believe that Ella was gone. I howled loudly and

killed as many rogues as I could. I ran back looking for Ella’s scent and eventually found her. I

shifted back into my human form and cradled Ella into my arms. She had been clawed across her

chest and then her neck was snapped.

We lost a lot of our members that day, we had more than half killed or had died from their

wounds. After I buried Ella, I found it difficult and to be motivated to train the warriors. Max, my

wolf was in recluse. He was sad he lost his mate. I let him be. In the end, I requested my Alpha, if

I could leave the pack and go travelling. I ended up travelling around and then settled in a small

village. I offered self defence classes to adults and children, male and females alike. Ella had

always enjoyed doing self defence classes, she was not scared to get hurt. It made me proud of

her whenever she talked about her classes. She was always so energetic, I missed her laughs,

her smiles. She was perfect for me, my perfect mate gifted by the Moon Goddess.

End of flashback

It started with these weird dreams I was getting at night. I would be in this pack, I could tell they

were Rogues, but it was weird, they also worked like a pack. It must be the Rogue King’s pack.

No-one knew who the Rogue King was, but all the rogues answered to him. In my dream, I was

training the rogues as their Head Warrior. Then the view would change, it was a small girl, she

was dirty, wearing torn clothes. She had been abused; I could see whip marks through

her clothes. It made my blood boil, Ella loved kids and even our old pack, any wolf who was

caught abusing children were punished. Sometimes, my dreams would feel so real, I would be in

a dream, where the little girl was being abused, she was being whipped with wolfsbane. I felt like

I was the one who had been whipped with it. I could not really put a finger on it.

I tried to ignore the dreams at first. I got about my daily business, which did not really consist of

much, mainly teaching self defence classes. I did not really socialise with anyone, I just kept my

head down and minded my own business. Eventually, my dreams got more and more vivid. Then,

I heard a voice in my dream, “Go to her, protect her” repeatedly.

I tried to think what Ella wanted me to do. Ella would never let a child suffer abuse. She would of

told me to go. She would want me to rescue the child. She was an avid believer in the Moon

Goddess and the signs that she gives. So, I started my preparations and ended up packing up my

things and decide to start travelling again. I had no idea where this pack or the little girl was.

It was months before I stumbled across the pack. I had met Lucy, an Omega. She was a

sweet girl. She was carrying a lot of things when I came across her and offered to help. She took

me back to the pack. It was hidden in the mountains, I met the Rogue King, but he was known as

Alpha James. He did not want the pack to be known as the Rogue pack, but rather the Raven

Pack. I told him I was a Head Warrior in a small pack. I did not tell him which pack in case he was

behind the attacks on my pack. He never asked questions. It took me a few months to be part of

his inner circle, which meant he now trusted me. I was ruthless in my decisions, just the way he

liked it. I never questioned him either, which he hated. Wolves who questioned his authority were

often killed, he had a very short temper. I also met his Beta, Callum. Callum was a quiet bloke and

often did not speak much, he too also followed Alpha James’s orders without questions.

It was the one time I had stumbled into the pack house and walked in on Noah, he was beating

this Omega. When she got up, that was when I froze, it was the girl from my dreams years ago,

just older now. I could hear Noah threatening her, “You stupid s***t! You deserve this beating.”

Before Noah could land another punch on her, I made my presence known and just went, “What

is going on here?” Noah responded, “Just teaching this Omega her manners, isn’t that right Mia?”

I did not miss the threatening tone or the evil smirk that came from him. “Yes, I apologise for my

bad manners, it would not happen again.” Mia had responded. “Well, if it is not too much trouble

Mia, do you mind getting me some food?” I asked her. “Yes sir, I will just be a moment.” Mia said

and went into the kitchen. Noah left the kitchen area after I made an appearance. Not long after,

Mia brought me my food. “Mr Chase, you are here eating today!” Lucy exclaimed. “Hello Lucy,

how are you doing? Yes, I did not want to cook today so I decided to come here instead.” I

responded. “Well, you are welcome to come here anytime Mr Chase!” Lucy said to me. I gave her

a nod.

Once I knew Mia had left Lucy and myself alone. I asked Lucy, “Who is that girl, Mia?” “I am not

sure Mr Chase, she was brought here a few years ago, we are the same age. She gets beaten up

and abused regularly. I always have to tend to her wounds. As we have gotten older, her

punishments have been getting worse.” Lucy whispered to me. “Also, Mr Chase, please do not

say anything or I will get into trouble.” She asked me. I nodded my head, “Could you just please

make sure you always tell me if you can?” I asked her. Lucy nodded her head. I remembered the

voice that repeatedly said, “Go to her, protect her.” The voice has been silent ever since I arrived

here.

“We have to protect her Chase.” Those were the first words that Max ever said to me in such a

long time. I nodded in agreement with his statement. “You are right, I am glad to hear your voice

Max. I have missed you. I do not know why we have to protect her though?” I asked Max. “In time

you will know, just look after her, keep an eye on her. You will find out soon. I am sorry for being

so quiet Chase, I needed to mourn, and I have been weak since we lost Ella. I will be back soon

though, my old friend.” Max said to me and then went back to sleep. I felt content that Max never

left me. I let him mourn just as I have been with Ella. I just chose to do something more

productive, so that my mind did not wonder to that fateful day.

After the first incident I had seen Noah beat her, I never caught him again doing it when I was

there. But Lucy always tells me what would happen to Mia. My blood always boils with anger

about the sickening things that have been done to Mia. I cannot wait to teach Noah a lesson in

training. I needed to help Mia escape now. The best opportunity would be when Alpha James

go to visit the dark witch, Bianca. I knew without a doubt, not only Mia needed but Lucy.

I was going to make sure that these girls would be able to escape and give my life to make sure

it happened. I just hope both the girls’ stamina would be able to keep up when we run away. I

decided I needed to go find some routes that we can go escape. So, I decided to go on a

perimeter run instead.

I did not dare to venture too far in case of raising any suspicion. So, I pretended I was going

about my normal routine. As I did the perimeter run, I decided to go a little further out and could

see a couple of paths that we could use to escape. I turned back and continued the perimeter

run and prayed to the Moon Goddess that we would have a successful escape.
