Chapter 11

Mia POV     We headed out to a breakfast diner to grab some breakfast. I had ordered a big breakfast with a cup of coffee to go with my food. I really liked coffee and I think without it now, I would be grumpy. Initially, I used to dislike coffee, but after a few days of Lucy and Chase saying it was the best thing ever and that they always needed one in the morning, I thought I would give it a go. I cannot stand anything that is bitter, so I normally add at least 2 sugars into my cup of coffee.     After finishing breakfast, we headed over to the house that we really wanted to see. There was a lady waiting for us there. When we pulled up to the house, I could see it was a quaint little house, nothing too fancy. There was even a garage, which meant we could store anything inside. The lady said she would wait for us inside the house, and we could look around at the outside and the garden area first. Heading over to the garden, we could see a decent-sized garden, there was a vegetable patch as the previous owner also grew vegetables. The best part was that there was an apple tree and a lemon tree towards the back of the garden. At the very back of the garden, on the side, there was a gate towards the forest. The pathway joined back to the main pathway that leads into the forest. It was perfect.     We headed back inside the house, there was a decent size living room and kitchen. There were 4 bedrooms. We could have one each of the rooms as our bedrooms and then the last room could either be another guest room or a storage room or even an office room for Chase. We could decide later. I looked at Chase and Lucy and said to them, “What do you think guys? You think we could stay here?” Both nodded at me, and Chase said, “Let us go back downstairs to see the lady, we can move in as soon as possible and then we will need to stock up on some food and so forth.”    Chase spoke with the lady, “We will take the house, we really like it.” “That’s great! I thought you would like it. it is perfect for a family like yours. I will get the paperwork done now so you can all move in by the end of the day.” The lady responded. Once Chase completed the paperwork, he asked the lady, “Hey, I was wondering about setting up a self-defence class whilst we are temporarily here, I was wondering if you knew anyone would be interested or a place I could set up?” “Oh, that is a wonderful idea, do you have a time in mind? If not, you already have my number, you can text me the time. In terms of place, there is an old disused gym, it is part of this house, but it was never listed as part of the house. If you want, I will throw it in for free as you will have to renovate it, but once you get it done, you can host your classes in there. How does that sound?” The kind lady said. “Thank you so much, you have no idea how much that means to me and my family here, my late wife always had a passion for self-defence classes. My only regret was that I never followed through my passion.” Chase responded back, holding back his tears. “I am terribly sorry to hear about your late wife. Let us get you started but I am quite excited about attending one of your self-defence classes! Now, that the paperwork is all done, I must get going, please remember to text me the time when you are ready! I look forward to coming.” The lady left us as she walked off.     I turned to Chase and said, “Self-defence classes? Does that mean Lucy and I can attend? It would be weird if we did not.” Chase nodded his head, “Of course, girls, you both can attend. Besides that will only be a fraction of the training you girls will be going through. It will be a good baseline for you girls though.” With that, both Lucy and I nodded our heads. “Now what do we do?” I said to Chase and Lucy.     Lucy was the first one to respond, “Let’s go get some basics, we will need furniture, but we also need to redecorate the old disused gym so that Chase can get started with the self-defence classes.” Both Chase and I agreed with Lucy, so we decided to head back out to the town centre to get what we needed.     We had finally finished buying everything we needed for now. It was an entire day-affair of getting the things we needed. To be honest, I could not wait until we could finally help decorate and settle down for a while. Chase has been busy making sure we covered our scents. This would give us time to rest but also some additional income when we jump from town to town. We just had to look as normal as possible and blend in. We finally had some dinner and decided to have an early night and get started. Chase wanted me and Lucy to continue building up stamina, so we would be up at 4am to run around the forest, get a feel of the land and our surroundings so we could also plan our escape route if necessary.     It did not even feel like I had slept. I was so tired being up at 4am but it was a good idea to sleep early last night, we absolutely needed this if we were to run around the forest. Chase was already waiting for both Lucy and I by the edge of the forest trail. “Are you ready girls? It looks like the forest is of a decent lap, we will run about 2 miles first and look at the surrounding areas as we will not be staying long in this town and must keep moving.” Both Lucy and I nodded our heads and started stretching, getting ready for the run.
