Chapter 8

Hey Readers, I hope you had an amazing new year with lots of great food! I apologise for the delay in getting a chapter up. Its been super busy for me during these holidays but I had some flare ups with my hands so it has not been the easiest trying to type up the chapters. I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Chase POV

After bumping into Noah, I decided to continue my usual routine. I wanted to wait until Noah had left the territory and he was already at the bar. This would give me enough time to get both the girls and get them to hide their scents using the mud.

Soon, it was time for me to go get Lucy and Mia. I grabbed my bag and the extra food that I had taken from dinner earlier and stuffed it into the bag. I packed some knives into my rucksack in case we would need it for our journey. I went to Lucy first and she quickly grabbed her packed bag with the food containers. We then went to Mia’s room quietly, “Oh hey Lucy and Chase, what is going on?” Mia asked. We put our fingers to our lips to say be quiet and Lucy responded, “Lets go, we are leaving tonight, we will escape. Quickly pack some clothes, so we can go now whilst we have the chance.” Mia quickly packed a bag, and we quickly left the packhouse, being as quiet as we could.

We ran towards the path I had mapped out and as we went along the path, we rubbed mud on ourselves to cover our scents. As we reached past the pack territory, all three of us broke our bonds to the pack. Luckily, we did not bump into anyone along the way. We kept running until we were miles away from the pack. I could see Mia was getting tired from all the running. I looked at Lucy and asked, “Do you think you can still run until we reach somewhere safe where we can rest?” “Yes, I can Chase” Lucy responded back to me. We slowed down and I told Mia, “I am going to change into my wolf, Max and you will get onto my back.” Mia nodded. I quickly stripped down as the girls looked away then I nudged Mia’s hand. She climbed onto my back, and we kept running with Lucy next to us.

It was a few hours that we had been running until we spotted a cave. I slowed down so that Mia could get off my back. I changed back to my human form and said to the girls, “I will check the cave to make sure it is safe and then we will get some rest. Keep a lookout for any rogues.” Both the girls nodded at me, and I went to the cave to make sure it was safe. After a few minutes, making sure the cave and the surrounding area was safe and some escape routes were possible, I waved the girls to come over. “Let us get some rest, as we will be travelling some more in early hours to gain more distance from the pack” I said to both girls. They nodded their heads and we all fell asleep very quickly.

We woke up early in the morning, the girls and I ate some food that Lucy had brought with us. We were all tired, but we needed to keep moving. I told the girls, “We will need to find a human town, get some things for our journey, we will have to also change our appearance so we cannot be found. In addition, we will need to find some herbs or witches along the way to be able to hide our scent. Do you girls have any questions?” Mia who had not spoken the entire time since we left the pack, “Chase, I really wanted to thank you for taking me along, I have been planning this for so long” she said, with tears streaming down her cheeks. I went to her and gave her a hug, “hush child, it was my calling to come to you, I am so sorry I could not protect you better” I responded. She cried, letting her tears out, as I held her and even Lucy could not help but come round and give us all a hug. We sat in silence until Mia calmed down. After that, we decided to get on the move, we needed to keep moving until we would get to the other side of the pack, far away from Alpha James.

We packed our stuff and made our way heading east, trying to put as much distance away from the pack. We again hid our scents until we could get our hands on herbs and be able to change our appearance. We ran avoiding any places with lots of people until we made a stop to grab a break. We ate some of the sandwiches that Lucy had packed again, the girls would need new clothes and we would burn the old ones. Mia spoke up, “Chase, do you think you can help me and Lucy with some training? We are clearly slowing you down since we are not as fit and we need to be able to defend ourselves just in case, we cannot leave it all to you Chase” she said. I sat in silence and responded, “Yes, I will teach you both, but preferably when we have found a place to be able to hunker down, although, right now with all this running, I reckon your stamina is pretty good, you would be able to keep up” laughing as I said it. The girls broke out giggling at my comment.

I thought to myself, I would train them to get stronger and at least be able to defend themselves. Mia was a sharp kid, I realised that there was a lot more credit to give to her than how she puts herself out and let others perceive her.

James POV

We were almost reaching the dark witch coven when I felt three connections leave the pack. I was in a lot of pain. I had almost blacked out from it. In the corner of my eye, I could see that even Callum was struggling. Three people had left our pack, but we did not know who. We slowly got ourselves up. “What the f**k was that? Who left our pack?!” I was shouting at Callum. It was not his fault, but he was just someone I could only direct my anger on.

We slowly got up and made our way to the coven. I needed to get in touch with Noah and Chase to find out what was going on. When we reached to the destination Bianca met us. “You look like hell” she said. I snarled at her comment. “Your rooms are on the left down the corridor, we will discuss whatever it is in the morning” she said. We nodded and went to our rooms, Callum followed me into my room.

As soon as Callum closed the door, “I want to know who left our pack, reach out to Chase and I will reach out to Noah” I said. I dialled Noah on his mobile a few times, after three times, he finally picked up his phone. “Where the f**k are you!? I have been trying to get hold of you already! Who the f**k left the pack?! I did not make you Head Captain to sit on your ass! You want to become Gamma, you better prove your worth or it would be your head next! When I come back, I better get some updates!” I snarled down the phone at him.

After I got off the phone, I could see Callum was waiting for me, “I could not get hold of Chase, I do not know where he is” he said to me. “We will need to head back as soon as possible; we will deal with this matter and then we will head back straight away. Let’s get some rest and then find head back soon” I said to Callum. He nodded his head and headed to his room.

I thought why this was happening, who was it that left but I knew I would not get answers until I got home, I needed to wrap this up with Bianca quickly. I was worried that Mia had escaped, if so, this is not good news at all. I needed to get some sleep so I could think more clearly tomorrow.
