Chapter 9

Noah POV

I had to rush back home after the phone call from Alpha James. Damn Alpha James, he was screaming at me down the phone whilst I was in the middle of a good threesome with Steph and Mia. I mean earlier, there was a sharp pain, but we were having too much fun. I told the girls that I had to go and said that something had happened back at the pack, and we had to go back. As soon as I got back, I got all the warriors to find out who was there. Where was Chase?! I decided to go to his room, he was not there. I tried looking everywhere for him, but I just could not find him.

I decided to go check on Mia and check her room. She was not there either, where the “f**k was she?! Alpha James was going to be p*****d at me. I was going to be in so much trouble. We had to find them soon because otherwise, there would be hell being rained on us.

We tried searching for them for hours. So many questions went through my head. Who was the third person who left with them? How did we lose their scent, we traced it from the packhouse and then before all these paths, they disappeared on to one of these paths, but which one? I did not even know which direction to take. If I do not deliver some good news to Alpha James, he would literally have my head and I knew he was not kidding when he threatened me.

I decided to brace myself for my phone call with Alpha James. I knew he would not take this lightly, but it had to be done. I rang his mobile and he picked up, “Noah, you better have some good news for me” he said to me. I responded to him, “We lost Chase and Mia, I am still trying to identify who the third…” At that point I realized. “Who is the third! Noah are you there?!” Alpha James yelling down the phone. “Yes, sorry Alpha James, sorry I have just realized who was the third person, it is Lucy. I have not seen her around. We tracked the scents until multiple pathways, but we do not know which one they have taken. They have hidden their scents. I believe, we should get the rogues to look to avoid any suspicions” I said to Alpha James. There was a slight pause from Alpha James, “Okay, get our rogue contact and tell him to spread the words to be on a lookout for them, he knows how Chase looks like” he said. “Okay boss, I will start working on it now” I said. We hang up, I breathed a sigh of relief, I still had my head. Now I had to make sure to give a call to our rogue contact.

I had to make sure I step up to the plate whilst Alpha James is away until he comes back. I hope I do a good job and make sure I can get Gamma position when he is back. I need to make sure this goes out smoothly, I decided I wanted to go on to one of the trails. I could make a faint scent, but it was not clear enough as to who. Once the rogues got here, maybe I would get them to split off on all the trails and see what happens and see which path the three have gone.

Unknown POV

I was out when I received a phone call from Noah requesting our presence at the pack as they wanted us to do some tracking missing people. So, I had to call my team together, Dan, Darren, Kenny and Evan. We all became rogues for our own reasons, but we never spoke about it. However, we got on well so now we stick together. I am interested in the phone call I received from Noah, he seemed nervous. I wonder why he was nervous, he said we had to urgently get there. I had told Noah that we would arrive in about 2-3 days.

I called the guys over and said we had a job to do. They asked me where we had to go, and I said to our favourite pack with much sarcasm. I said Noah called and he wants us there as soon as possible, they wanted to track some people that were missing. Dan was an exceptional tracker with scents and Evan with his sort of contacts, I was confident we would be able to find the missing people that Noah needed to find.

Once we arrived at the pack, Noah came to meet us. “Hello Noah, you mentioned on your call you wanted us to track some missing people” I said to him. “Well yes, but you took more than 2 days to arrive! I need you to find Chase and two girls, here are some of their things that you can use for scent” Noah responded back, handing over some items to Dan. I shrugged my shoulders, “It took us a little longer than expected.” He continued to say, “I want you to find them and report back to me and make sure you are not found out.” We nodded our heads in response. Noah took us towards the paths he last identified the scents, but he was not sure which path they took. After Dan sniffed some clothing that were left behind by the two girls and Chase, we waited in silence to tell us which path they could have potentially taken. After a while, Dan said whilst gesturing to this small path, “Potentially, it could be this small path they have taken, the scent is faint, but it could also be a decoy.” After some thoughts, I said, “Let us go down this path, we can always use Evan’s contacts if we need be.” Evan nodded his head, and we made our way down the small path.

It felt like we had walked some time before we arrived at a cross section. We had no idea which way they had gone, even Dan was confused, he could not smell their scent anymore. S**t, we do not even know which way to go. We had to camp for the night and come up with a plan to see what our next steps would be.
