Chapter 10 - Found you

Pov: Azalea

“So what next,” Ace asks, driving the car, as we head to our next hotel destination 50 miles away. “The usual” I sighed with annoyance.“Back to our old life of moving around doing assassinations,’’ I said with my legs out the window, as I comfortably scrolled through social media. “Ok,” he sighed. I know this is difficult for him, he just got used to being a normal teenager, and now that's being taken from him.

“ So... are we gonna talk about what happened,” Ace said slightly smiling as he stared straight ahead, staying focused on driving. “Not much to talk about,” I said. “We found our mates, then we left, end of the story,” I say as I put my legs back inside the car, obviously now uncomfortable with the conversation. “ How does your mate even look like, is he handsome, mine was, he had the most gorgeous eyes,” Ace says, seeming to get lost in thought as a smile slowly creeps on his face. I close my eyes, trying to block out the sound of his rant about his newfound mate.

“Girls were all over him, he seems like a hoe and a mess to deal with. Good thing he's somebody else's problem now.” He said the last part with a bit of sadness. “ Can you please shut up about your mate?” I said, not able to hide my growing discomfort anymore. “ Yeah, sorry,” Ace said, then looked as if he was lost in his thoughts. “ Who needs 'em, anyway, your annoying ass is all the drama I need right now,” Ace said with a small chuckle.

“Besides I’m not mentally prepared for a relationship right now, especially the final one’’ Ace said with pain in his voice that he was trying to mask. “ You know you don’t have to be strong for me,” I said sitting up, trying to give him my full attention.“

Funny I should say the same thing to you”, Ace said Mockingly. I rolled my eyes in response.

(Ding) my phone beeped, grudgingly I checked it. I couldn't help but stare at it in shock.

”STOP THE CAR,” I yelled, which caused Ace to stop abruptly. “AZALEA” Ace yelled, he hates it when I yell while he’s driving. Luckily this road was empty so it was not as bad as the time when I asked him to stop during traffic. ‘’Aunt Clara Just sent an SOS, that Uncle Ben is in the hospital,” I said, showing him the text. “ What the hell happened, we got to go back,” Ace says as he puts his hands back on the steering wheel. “ What if it could be a trap set up by our mates, they live in my mate's pack you know? I said irritated by the conversation.“ I was also there with you Azalea,” Ace said in annoyance. “ Why would they even go through all that trouble?” Ace questioned.

”The mate bond is strong. They could actually be looking for us. My mate is the Alpha of the pack so Aunt Clara would have to listen to him even if she doesn't want to.” I said trying to reason with Ace. “ And what if it isn't?... And something happened to him and we just ran away.” Ace said, trying to make me see his side of things. I do hate the fact that we are leaving them in a hurry. They have been so kind to us in our short time staying with them, I don’t think I would live with myself if I left while something is wrong. I sighed deeply, “turn back, we're going back to the Blood Levada Pack.’’ I said as I wonder if I'm making a mistake not leaving. Ace just smiled ‘’ I guess you do have a heart after all.

An hour later

“Aunty, Are you home? '' Ace and I shouted as we headed inside through the back door. We didn’t check the garage to see if their car was there. We looked in the kitchen as that's where we came from, surprisingly she is not making her famous Blood Levada Chocolate chip cookies that she makes almost every day. Ace and I headed into the living room, as that’s where they usually spend most of their time.“ Found you,” Kyle says as he standst here excitedly smiling in the living room, with a guy who I presume is Ace’s mate, who is just lounging on the couch looking bored, but his eyes soon light up when he sees Ace. “ I f*****g KNEW IT,” I said as I angrily turned around to stomp off. “ Azalea wait,” Kyle says annoyed, as he rushes across the room to turn me around to face him.“ Can we just talk?”, he says gently. “ I’m leaving,” I said coldly, pushing his hands away, turning back around to leave.” Aza”, Ace says. “you might want to see this. I walked over to him standing at the front door. ‘’What is i-? '' Before I could finish, I saw the row of wolves all surrounding the house, it looked like at least one hundred. “ Yeah, we're not gonna let you guys run off again,” Kyle says, smiling, with his arms crossed. “ So, we're prisoners now. '' I said, obviously frustrated. “ Well…” Kyle said, trying to be funny. “You think this is a joke,” I said, starting to get mad. “ A little, especially since you are so cute when upset,” Kyle says as he starts to chuckle. I couldn't contain my anger. “You little-”,

“I hate to break up this lover's quarrel” Chris interrupts. “ But unfortunately we had to enforce a lock-in, you both are not allowed to leave the pack without our permission. We are weaker without our mates close to us, so like it or not you're stuck with us, or do you want to take your chances with the guards outside.” Chris says. I had to look outside the door to see the wolves again and I know there is no way we can escape. I wonder if the only reason they want us to stay is for that reason alone. I wonder , feeling myself growing sadder at the thought. “ I guess we have no choice do we,” I said as I looked at Ace, who had the same annoyed expression as me. “ Ok fine, but can you exit our house, I think you overstayed your welcome,” I said as I went to sit on the couch, with my feet on the couch.

“ Hah” You really want to kick us out,” Kyle says laughing, as he moves my feet to sit down. “ Your mate really is something,” Chris said amused. “At least my mate talks to me,” Kyle said mockingly. “ Well, my mate is just shy, right babe.” Ace just looked at Chris with a quiet unreadable expression and then looked away. “ Baby, don’t be like that,” Chris said as he tried to lean in to touch Ace. “ Leave me alone,” Ace said with an hostility seething in his voice, there was even a small glimmer of fear in his eyes. “ I wouldn’t, hur-... I- I’m sorry,” Chris said, as he had a pained expression painted on his face. Ace's face paled with instant regret. “ I didn’t mean…” Ace tried to say, but Chris quickly rushed out the door, slamming it shut, shaking the whole house.

Kyle sighed, “ I have to go check on him,” Kyle says as he immediately went to the door. “Don’t think this is over babe, i’ll see you around love, you too Ace.’’ Kyle says as he rushes out the door in chase of Kris. I came to the door watching as all the wolves started to leave in droves. I turned to Ace who looked as if he regretted all his life decisions, till this point. “ Are you ok?” I ask worried as he starts to grow pale. “ I’m fine’’ Ace said, obviously lying. “ Thump.” Ace and I both immediately turned to the direction of the sound, to only be met with the face of our Aunt and Uncle coming down the stairs with a look of guilt on their face.

“Just so you know, we were ordered to,” Uncle Ben says with his hands up in the air in a submissive stance. “ You should have come to us, we're family darlings .” Aunt Clara said with a sorrowful expression on her face. “Yeah why would you run, people usually run to their mates not away from them.” Uncle Ben says chuckling, as he and Aunt Clara came right next to us. “ Yes, especially when they are dashing rich Alphas,” Aunt Clara said laughing while scooping Ace and my hand into hers. “ I need you guys to be honest with me,” Aunt Clara said in a stern tone, Ace and I looked at each other in worry, waiting for one of us to break the silence.

“ It’s nothing I promise,” Ace said, shattering the growing silence of the room. His face constantly twisting, trying desperately to hide the obvious lie on his face. Aunt Clara put her hand on her hips, looking angrier than I ever thought was possible coming from her. “Are you sure… I tried not to question you, but I was cleaning your room one day and I came across stacks upon stacks of money hidden in your drawer.” Aunt Clara said bewildered , but with a dash of suspicion and anger. Ace looked at me, in an I told you not to hide it there look. I just rolled my eyes at him.“ LOOK AT ME,” Aunt Clara said loudly in a harsh tone. “ Ok, babe calm down now” Uncle Ben said trying to reassure her. “ CALM DOWN, what if they…’’ Aunt Clara couldn't finish her sentence. As quickly as she became angry, she fell to the ground as sadness came over her and she started to cry.

We all stared at her in shock. Uncle Ben went to comfort her. Ace and I also attempted to do the same. “What's wrong sweetie,” Uncle Ben asked rubbing her back. She stared up at us, with a face so sad it could make even the devil cry. “ You ok Aunty” Ace asked fidgeting nervously. “Are you in danger?” Aunt Clara said, staring into our souls, trying to sense if we lied. “ N- No” Ace said, fidgeting even more now.Technically he ain't lying, we are the danger, though we are put in life threatening situations sometimes. Aunt Clara and Uncle Ben observed him, obviously knowing something was wrong. “We’re not in danger Aunt Clara.” I said. Which only made Aunt Clara stare into my eyes. I kept her gaze, which eventually turned into a staring contest, each of us trying to read the other.

Aunt Clara suddenly reached her hand up to my face caressing my cheek. Her other hand grabs Ace closer to caresses his cheeks. “ I’m sorry,” Aunt Clara said in a soft tone. We all looked at her in shock and worry. “ I haven't seen my sister in 20 years, I don't know if she is dead and alive. I didn’t even know she had kids.” Tears started streaming down her face, as she broke out into a sob “ I should have helped her when she asked, but I was just so selfish. I should have been there for her.” Aunt Clara mumbled through her tears. “Baby are you ok? '' Uncle Ben says as he grasps Aunt Clara in his arms trying to comfort her.

Ace also look worried as he placed his hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. “ I s-should have s-stopped her from l-leaving” Aunt Clara said between sobs. “ Aunty what are you talking about” Ace said softly, rubbing her shoulders as she is being cradled by Uncle Ben. Aunt Mae opened her mouth as if she was going to answer the question, and took a breath, closed her mouth and stood up, “Look kids” Aunt Clara said in a serious tone as she wiped tears from her eyes.” I know yall are lying to me, you're keeping secrets, just like your mother, heck she was able to keep a dog away from our parents for two weeks' ' Aunt Clara says as she descends into laughter. I loved hers smile, it was beautiful .

Ace and I looked at each other and smiled. “ Anyway what was I saying,... oh yeah, ok so your not gonna tell me what's going on with you guys. “Why you're running from your mates, and why your keeping secrets. “ Aunt Calra said frustrated. “Ok well fine… But can you both promise me to stay. There is a whole life here waiting for you , memories to build, people to connect with. Please just be a normal teen for once in your life, we would love to get to know you more” Aunt Clara and Uncle Ben looked at each other with a bitter sweet smile as if they were both reading each others thoughts. Ace and I did the same, with the look oh his face, it seemed we had the same thought. “ We would love to stay Aunt Clara, sorry for all the trouble.” We said in unison.

Its not like we had a choice anyways. Were trapped in this pack, but they don’t need to know that I chuckled internally. “Lets have a group hug come on Uncle Ben says.” Aunt Clara moans in annoyance, but pulls us all in. “ Let me see if i can pick you all up” Uncle Ben says as he tries to lift us all up by our waist. We all scream and wiggle which end up making us all falling hard to the floor. “ AW,” we all said in unison. We all started breaking out in laughter, as we knew there was more to laughter to come.
