Chapter 5

The next day I found myself sitting at the back of the class, there was still about fifteen minutes left before the lecturer should be coming in. I stretched as I tried to get my body to start waking up, I was no where close to being a morning person and hated choosing the classes that started in the early mornings. At least it gave me time to look for a part-time job in the afternoons, I'll need to earn a few extra bucks even if I was on scholarship here. With a yawn I reached down to take out my books when I heard something being placed on my table, sitting up straight I stared at the cup of coffee that stood neatly on my table. "I had no idea how you take your coffee so I took a gamble." Chris spoke next to me. I was shocked to find him sitting next to me with his books already placed on the table, he wore faded blue jeans, sneakers and a white shirt today. His hair was still wet and there's still dark circles under his eyes, he yawned before taking a sip of his coffee. "What are you doing here?" I hissed, staring at his History books. "Not even a good morning? I'm here to take my class the same as you." he lifted up his cup as he salute me. "Don't tell me your studying Law?" I moaned, rubbing my eyes in hopes that this is a dream. "Luckily for me I am, where did you disappear to yesterday?" he moaned at the end as if he lost his favorite toy. "I was done eating and went to my dorm, why do you want to know?" I sigh, taking an experimental sip. "You can drink that without worry, I didn't poison it. I placed in three sugar because I guessed that you might not be a morning person like me." he gave me a lopsided smirk. "I'm also not a people person." I replied automatically, enjoying the taste of strong coffee. "Then do tell why you want to study law?" he stared at me as if I was something out of this world. "Because I believe even villains deserve to hear their side of the story." I shrugged, looking at my watch. "So you want to save the bad guys?" he laughed, leaning a bit closer to my fave. "I don't want innocent people to be send to jail for others mistakes or gains." I hissed low, pushing his face out of my personal space. He was about to say something when the class started filling up with students, I gave him smirk just as the lecturer came in. Time seemed to flow after that as we entered every class together, listening as every lecturer introduced themselves and explained what they expected of you. Criminal Law was the last class we entered for the day, this time I sat in front with Chris just behind me. The lecturer that looked up from his book looked other worldly, almost every girl in the class giggled as he stood up from his chair. His golden locks were tied back with a black lint, he wore a simple white shirt with a black cravat and black pants. Round glasses couldn't hide his ocean blue eyes and the way he smiled showed that he knew what effect he had on the girls. Now that I think about it I realize that almost every lecturer here seemed to be very fit, almost as if they were build to show someone how perfection should be. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, My name is Sidon and I'll be your lecturer this year in criminal law." he smiled at everyone in the class. He started explaining what criminal law is and what is to be expected from his, somehow it felt like everything he did started to irritate me. I rubbed my stiff neck as I wrote down what he had written on the board, I looked up just as his eyes found me and it felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I have never liked the colour blue and for some unknown reason I hated the ocean even more, staring into his eyes I felt like I wanted to pull them out. It was like they were seeing more than what they were supposed to, as if they could see the real me that even I find hard to see. I felt something poke into my back, turning around I looked at Chris who just gave me a smile as if he enjoyed a good show. Maybe I should add violet to the colors that I don't like, even if that would be a lie. "Why don't you all stand up and give a short introduction to the class." Sidon clapped his hand before pointing his finger at me. I felt every single eye in the class room on me and I wanted so much to break that finger at this very moment, who gave him this bright idea to start an introduction at my side. We haven't done this in any of the other classes and I believed it wasn't even needed, those who wanted to get along will automatically get along and there was no need to push everyone together like in high school. I stood up slowly as I looked over everyone in the class. "My names Madeleine and I'll be studying law." I sigh before sitting back down. "I'm pretty sure everyone in this class will be studying law Madeleine, don't you have anything else to add?" Sidon smirked at my direction, folding his arms as if he was patiently waiting for me to continue. "That would be impossible since I can guarantee that half of the class will leave in the first semester." I smiled back at him "What makes you think that?" "Because half of them thinks that being a lawyer is as easy as in the movies and being spoon fed on the first day will make them think that they will pass in flying colors, that is untill they realized that it's hard work and dressing up the part won't always give you the upper hand." I had no idea where this conversation was coming from but what I do know is that he was trying to pick on me and I hoped that he was getting my subtle warning to stop it, I watched as his eyes turned dark and couldn't help but to grin even bigger. He moved on to the next person but his eyes never left mine. It was as if they were searching for something and for some reason the urge of digging his eyes out started to grow even more, I didn't even realize that I was holding my breath until the last bell rang and Chris almost pulled me out of the class. "Why on earth did you do that?" he chided me, throwing my bag over his shoulder. "There's just something about him that just irritates me...as if he thinks all eyes should be on him." I grumbled, reaching out for my bag. "That almost sound just like of Miss Pha was yesterday." Chris nodded but held my bag out of reach. "They do act almost quite similar and give me my bag back!" I hissed, jumping to get a hold of my bag. "You need to get a hold of your temper, it might just send you in the wrong direction." he smiled, swinging my bag from side to side. "And why would you care if I get into trouble." I huffed, jumping in hopes of getting a hold of my bag. "Because we are friends and I don't want to see you get kicked out." he smiled down at me. I finally got a hold of my bag and pulled it out of his grasp, throwing it over my shoulder I combed my hair back with my fingers before I stared into those eyes that seemed to pull me in deeper. " Who said we were friends? " I smirked before turning around and leaving for the athletic stadium.
