POWER DOESN'T ASK

Chapter 6 The Williams estate was silent. Silent in a way that felt suffocating, like even the air had rules. Every light was perfectly placed. Every movement inside the mansion carried purpose. Nothing existed carelessly there. *Inside Williams office Nicholas stood near the desk with a tablet in hand. “Sir, the board members are asking for your final decision.” Across the room, Williams stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. Hands in his pockets. Nicholas continued carefully, “The acquisition will cost more if we delay another week.” “Then don’t delay,” Williams replied calmly. His voice wasn’t loud, but it immediately settled the conversation. Nicholas nodded once. “Understood.” Silence returned briefly. Then Nicholas spoke again. “There’s also the matter concerning Jasmine.” That got his attention. Not visibly. But Nicholas noticed the slight shift anyway. Williams finally turned from the window. “Continue.” Nicholas glanced down at the information on his screen. “Jason has increased contact frequency over the last few days. Surveillance also confirms escalating aggression.” Williams walked slowly toward the desk. “And?” Nicholas chose his words carefully. “He appears unstable whenever other men approach her.” A quiet pause followed. Williams rested one hand against the desk, expression unreadable. “Unstable,” he repeated softly. Nicholas stayed silent. Williams looked down briefly before picking up the glass of wine before him. Nicholas swallowed subtly. “What would you like done?” Williams looked at him directly. No emotion. No hesitation. “We'll be paying him a visit soon then" Nicholas’ grip tightened slightly around the tablet. “…Understood.” Williams sat down finally, calm as ever. But Nicholas had worked for him long enough to understand what calm actually meant. It was never mercy. *Elsewhere in the basement of the building The basement was far less elegant. Cold walls. Dim lighting. Silence broken only by uneven breathing. A man sat tied to a chair, bruised and bleeding heavily from the mouth. Nicholas stood nearby, hands behind his back. The door opened. Williams entered slowly. No wasted movement. The man immediately panicked. “Please— please, I swear I didn’t do anything—” Williams raised a hand slightly. The man stopped talking instantly. Williams approached him calmly, studying him for a moment like he was examining damaged property. “You were given instructions,” Williams said. The man nodded quickly. “I followed them!” “Did you?” “Yes, I swear—” Williams tilted his head slightly. “Then why were you seen near her route?” The man froze. And that silence answered enough. Williams sighed softly. Almost disappointed. “The instructions were clearly to watch her every move. I see you've gotten a bit attached now. And why do you have illicit pictures of her?” he said quietly. The man started shaking harder. “Please, I’m sorry. I don't know what came over me—” Williams stepped closer and adjusted the man’s collar carefully. Almost gently. “I don’t give second chances for carelessness.” He stepped back. That was the signal. The guards moved immediately. The man screamed. Williams turned away before it even started getting worse. Already bored with it. Nicholas followed him out without a word. Neither of them looked back. Upstairs, Adrian was stretched across the couch scrolling through his phone like he didn’t have a single problem in the world. The moment Williams entered, Adrian glanced up. “Ah. The king returns.” No response. Adrian grinned. “Should I ask who got threatened this time or is that classified information?” Williams walked past him without answering. Adrian sighed dramatically. “You know, normal siblings actually communicate.” Still nothing. “You’re honestly exhausting,” Adrian continued. “One day I’m going to sue you for emotional damage.” Williams finally stopped walking. “You’re still here.” Adrian blinked. “That sounded personal.” “It was.” Adrian laughed under his breath. “Wow. And people call me rude.” Williams poured himself a drink silently. Adrian watched him carefully now, amusement fading into curiosity. “So,” he said casually, “she’s real.” No reaction. But Adrian noticed the pause anyway. Interesting. “You know what’s funny?” Adrian continued. “You’ve ignored people your entire life. Business, women, attention. None of it sticks.” Williams remained quiet. “But this girl does.” Still silence. Adrian smirked slowly. “That means she matters.” Williams finally looked at him. Cold. “Stay away from her.” Adrian leaned back against the couch. “Or what?” A quiet pause filled the room. Then Williams spoke. “I won’t warn you twice.” That made Adrian laugh softly, though he noticed the seriousness underneath it immediately. “Relax,” he said, raising both hands. “I’m not interested in stealing your mystery girl.” Williams looked away first. Conversation over. But Adrian kept watching him. Because this was new. William never obsessed over anything. Yet somehow, a random university girl now had surveillance around her, armed men reporting updates, and William threatening people over her existence. Adrian shook his head slowly. “Poor girl,” he muttered. Williams heard him. But said nothing. "She's cooked" he chuckled under his breath
