Jason's POV The first time I saw Brooke was at homecoming, sophomore year.  I didn’t have a girlfriend at the time, and for lack of someone better to take, I asked Maddy, who was always sort of a friend with benefits of mine.  Brooke was a freshman, and she was wearing a knockout dress—this amazing shade of silver that matched her eyes perfectly. It framed her body just right and made her look like she was floating. Her dark hair, unlike everyone else’s, was left down, brushed out and longer than I was used to.  She just… sparkled.  The date next to her was like a candle next to the sun. I didn’t get why she was with Milo. I didn’t get why someone so beautiful, with such a satisfying laugh and a pulse-drumming smile, could be with someone so quiet, boring, and dull.  It didn’t help
