Kate’s POV    Kids always fight over whose life is the worst. It’s something I’ve noticed from an early age—one of the few things I talked to Ms. Miller about. She didn’t understand, of course, but I talked about it to Brooke, too, and she agreed with me: it’s one of the stupidest things kids do, but they do it often. The biggest case of the whose-life-is-worst scenario was at Daria Fraser’s tenth birthday party. Her parents had reserved an entire restaurant patio for her and her friends, and she got so many presents that I couldn’t even keep count.
