The tension in the meeting room was palpable.
Daniel had no idea he was also partially source of this mess. Watching Emily suppress her displeasure and quietly clear the breakfast spread, he couldn't help but step in again. "Forget it, James. We've made some progress today. No need for breakfast. Dinner's on me some other time, and we can have a drink."
He knew the proud and dignified Emily must be embarrassed for him to see her like this. If he left now, maybe she'd be a bit more at ease.
With that, James didn't insist on keeping Daniel. He instructed his secretary to see Daniel out.
The second the door clicked shut, James' face hardened. He started to lecture. "How dare you argue with me in front of others? Looks like working security hasn't mellowed you out at all."
