CHAPTER 5

1987 Words
Past: Jeff looked at himself once again in the mirror, he could not believe the fact that he was trying so hard for this girl, when he had a girlfriend, however this female officer who spelt his eminent doom seemed most alluring to him. He smoothed his suit jacket as he went to retrieve his credit card from his drawer. He pulled out his gun which he always kept in handy. It was needed for many reasons as he had to be constantly alert considering the line of work he was involved in. He contemplated carrying it along, it could have been a trap set by the police, he however chose not to in the long run. He placed it back in the drawer and picked up his wallet which he placed in his suit jacket then he waited for her knock. Tami took a deep breath as she gave herself a once over. She liked what she had chosen, a black gown with red lines and red strapped open toe heels. She bit her lip as she put her septum ring on and packed her braids in a ponytail. She matched it all with a black purse. She had gone light with her make up just applying powder, eyeliner and red lip gloss and a bit of highlighter. With one last smirk at herself she made her way to the door, for some reason her attention turned to the microphone and recorder on her table but she did not consider bringing them, work could wait for now. She locked her door and made her way to his hotel room. She knocked twice and the door opened up. He had a bright smile on his face, his face did not even in the slightest bit look like that of a killer, he was hot and manly but there was still a boyish charm to him that made him look almost innocent but she knew better at least that night on the beach told her better. “You” they began simultaneously but stopped as they found themselves blushing like hopeless teenagers. “You look beautiful.” He said stepping out of his room “You don’t look too bad yourself Jeffery” She joked “So where are you taking me.” he asked after locking his door. Her hand was already out stretched and he just took the hand followed her lead. They stepped into the elevator along with an old couple, the elevator stopped on the ground floor and she led him to the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant looked better in the night as the interior was illuminated with white Christmas lights giving it an elegant yet playful feel. “Table for two” Tami said to the male reception “Reservation?” He asked “Yes” Tami replied “Tami Rashidi and Jeffery” “Alle, my last name is Alle” Jeffery whispered into her ears. Tami held back a moan as she felt his breath fan her skin. As if to torture her more Jeff placed his hands on her shoulders. He felt so strong and smelt so manly. The man looked through the laptop before him and looked back up at her smiling. “This way please.” He said stepping out and leading them. Tami and Jeff followed the man to their table. Jeff pulled out the chair for her and she sat down and he went to his own seat. “Here are your menus?” He handed them each a menu “A waiter will be with you in four seconds, enjoy you evening.” “Thank you” They said at the same time as he excused himself. “You are quite the gentleman” Tami stated looking through her menu. “Alle is wonderful surname” “I like to treat women like eggs.” That fact was true although he was never thought how to treat woman. He was thought to see everyone as a victim, he had developed himself in covering u the demon by being a gentleman. “So is Rashidi” "The women in your life must be very lucky" Tami replied "Your mother raised an amazing son" Jeff smiled. He did not remember much from his mother. He could not even remember her what she looked like or sounded like. He had resolved a long time ago that he had no mother. “She might be proud in heaven.” “Oh I'm sorry...” “It’s okay, she died when I was young, I don’t really remember her” Jeff confessed “Grew up in foster care with four friends as family” If the Inferos Assassins Academy Europe could be considered Foster care? Although looked like boarding school, that place harboured evil and dished it out to everyone who went within its walls. “Good evening.” The red head waitress greeted as she came to stand before them. On her face was a warm smile. “I'm Merida, your waitress for the evening” She held out her note pad “What will you be having?” “For drinks I won't mind the rum and coke" He looked at Tami “And the lady,” then waited for her to decide. “Same.” She replied “For food” the waitress asked “Boliche for me” He replied “What is the moros y cristianos?” She asked fumbling at the pronunciations “Its a Cuban version of rice and kidney beans, originated in peru” Jeff beat the waitress to replying as he handed her his menu with he and Tami's eyes not blinking away from each other. “Correct” The waitress said with a curt smile “It is very delicious and healthy” “I will take it” TamiTm replied “and two glasses of water” She broke her gaze with Jeff and turned to the waitress handing her the menu. “Thank you!” The waitress nodded, her smile dis not falter and walked away. “So where were we?” “About to switch the topic to you” Jeff replied “Tell me about you” “I'm American, Arabian from my dad’s side and Nigerian from my mum’s side. My name Tami it’s short for a Nigerian name.” “Really?” Jeff asked “What’s the name?” Tami giggled “You would never pronounce it right.” “Try me” Jeff said “Okay.” Tami took a deep breath an state her name, she struggled a little with pronouncing it “Tamunoibiere.” “Oh shit.” Jeff exclaimed “I would never get that. My American tongue is way to primitive for such a beautiful name.” Tami found herself giggling like a school girl. She nervously raised her hand to her hair, wanting to it but remembered she had packed it up. “Let it down” Jeff said as he noticed eagerness to busy her hands in her hair. “What?” “Your hair, you've made various attempts at touching it.” He said She smiled and pulled at the band which had kept her hair up, letting the braids fall, she ran her hands through them and continued to speak. “You are very observant.” She stated “As are you.” Jeff replied recalling the first time they met on the beach. “Carry on about You?” “I am the only child. I live in New York, my mother lives in Britain, my father is remarried to a girl my age, Zoey. I love her.” She giggled “How old are you?” "Twenty five" He replied “Oh wow” She sighed "I'm twenty seven" He smiled “Just a number, continue” “I hardly ever see my mother but we face time everyday, she hates my piercing, my smoking, my job" she stopped and looked at him. She had just ventured into a forbidden area. Why was she such a f**k up when it came to this Jeff guy? If she was not careful mentioning she was an FBI agent would blow her cover. “What do you do for a liv...?” They both stopped as they realised once again they had spoken simultaneously but this time on delicate matters. Jeff knew what she did and well Tami did not want to believe he was really an assassin, but it sort of added up a little, his refusal to talk about himself, his obvious observation skills, it however was still not proof enough. “ am a cop.” She replied "Nothing special just a rookie" Jeff smiled, she had told the truth and lied at the same time. She was not a rookie, she must have been special operations for her to get an under cover mission into the Inferos Killers syndicate. The organisation had eyes in the police and they had informed them of this mission. “I am a photographer.” He replied “I take shots of important places, people and things for blogs" he smirked once he said the word 'shots'. He did not lie aside from the bang of a gun and shouts of his victims all fell under shots. ☆☆☆ Present: Week two and Tami's whereabouts was still a mystery Jeff was as impatient as it got. Klaus and Ling sat working while Steve had gone out to get food but other than food breaks Jeff didn’t let them rest. Even at night Jeff lay awake. It was like he was going mental without Tami. Jeff looked into Ling's laptop as he typed away, trying to trace what ever could be a link to the monkey devil. “Dead end” Ling said, with a heavy British accent “It’s all dead end Jeff.” “No” Jeff pushed the chair beside him on the ground as he ran his hands through his hair vigorously. He stopped and smiled as he remembered. “I gave her a bracelet with a tracking device.” He said “and her engagement ring also has a tracking device. It’s on the Inferos database.” “Found them” Ling announced once Jeff was done talking “Where?” Klaus was quick to ask “An abandoned ware hours thirty kilometres from here” Ling replied “I'll get the cars ready” Klaus said to Jeff as rushed out of the room. “Any cameras hack in and block” Jeff asked Ling went back to typing, "Just one and the security detail seems very weak" Jeff looked into the laptop at the feed from the warehouse camera. The outside security consisted of four men at main entrance but no view of what the back held. “We are set.” Klaus announced Ling stood up ready to follow “You stay here” Jeff stated “We will need you to work from a safe distance.” Jeff walked out of the house and into the car. It was just him, Klaus and Steve. He was not going to get the rest of the Inferos into this until he was sure he needed extra help. “Jeff” Carter called. Jeff looked up at Carter who was making his way towards them. Klaus and Steve looked at Jeff. “I will get rid of him” Jeff said “No.” Steve opted “I will, we don’t want you doing something rash in anger, you are not in the right state of mind.” Steve stepped out of the car and went to Carter. “Where are you off to?” Carter asked as Steve came before him. “We just want to take Jeff somewhere he can clear up his head” Steve said “He is not taking Tami being gone well.” “I know, he really loves her" Carter replied "Should I come or...” “No” Steve replied “Just get some leads, so we can get her back.” Carter nodded “Let me talk to him.” “No” Steve replied “No just let him be ok” “Ok” Carter replied. He did not understand Steve’s reservations but he was used them suddenly locking him out of their lives. Sometimes they would step away and have secret whispers but he said nothing concerning it. Carter backed away and slipped into his car. Steve watched him till he drove off. Steve sighed as he made his way back to Klaus and Jeff. He believed he had just made things seem awkward. At first he was against remaining friends with Carter after he became a Detective but Jeff and Klaus were adamant, as much as Carter was his friend, if he did anything to affect Jeff or the Assassins, he will not hesitate killing him.
