CHAPTER 13 Present Jeff sighed as he poured the scotch in his hand to the back of his throat. He poured himself another cup and repeated the same motions continuously. He bit his lip as he looked at the gun sitting on his table before him. He was going to enjoy killing the bastard who took Tami. This was a promise he had made but yet he was shitty at keeping, he had promised that she would not get caught up in his mess and now she was gone, missing, taking by some psycho who believed he murdered his mother but then again he killed people for a living. However for the first time he was sure he did not kill this person but still he was paying a dear price. He picked up his gun and threw the cup in the air. He pulled the trigger and the bullet went straight through the cup and the cup fell to the ground making a loud noise as it shattered. He picked up his bottle of scotch and poured it down his throat. ☆☆☆   Past: Location: Paris, France Tami looked in awe at their room of the five star hotel. She looked back at Jeff as he smiled at her awe, it wasn’t the most expensive room in the hotel but it was one of the most expensive which spoke a lot. The bell boys left the luggage at the entrance and after Jeff handed them both a tip and spoke some French they left happier than they helped. “Jeff how the hell can you afford this.” Tami asked sternly. “We can afford it because we can.” Jeff replied picking her up in bridal style and carrying her to the bed. Tami chuckled all the way, till her back hit the soft foam. Jeff laid beside her and they were both quiet for a short period. “I can always count on you right?” Jeff asked The question came out of nowhere but in his voice there was a need for assurance and Tami knew this. She sat up and placed a hand on his thigh. “Yes you ca…” “Before you answer” Jeff interrupted sitting up, his voice was soft but still hard and he avoided her gaze “You need to know that aside from politically corrupt people, I have killed mothers and children without a blink.” Tami took her hand off his lap and placed it on his chin turning his face to hers. Jeff still tried not to focus on her. For some reason she broke him to pieces with a single stare and laid him bare. “I am not judging you. You have no choice.” Tami replied “You leave they kill you. No one will give up life no matter what it costs. You are just a victim of circumst…” “f**k it Tami.” Jeff replied softly looking away again “am the f*****g grim reaper but when you look at me with those little brown eyes, I feel like a f*****g saint, the f*****g pope.” He laughed “Years of lying and I can’t successfully keep a secret from you.” “Isn’t that a good thing?” Tami asked “No it means you are fucked.” Jeff replied “There is a dark cloud hovering over my head and if you chose to love me then that cloud is hovering over yours.” “What are you saying?” Tami asked “You are trying to pass a message, aren’t you?” Jeff looked at her this time in her eyes. “If you ever want to leave, don’t hesitate.” Those words for some reason made Tami’s brain shut down and her heart beat faster. “What do you mean by that?” She asked. She was not sure she could live without him even if she could, she would forever compare everyone else she is with to him. She had contemplated leaving, she had so many times but had never wanted to in the long run. He was her painful addiction. “I mean…” “Shut up” Tami cut him off. She was shaking, like she was about to have a breakdown. “I am not leaving you. Don’t say s**t like that to me, ever.” She paused “Or do you want to leave me.” Jeff turned to her. He hoped she could hear how ridiculous she sounded. Leaving her only crossed his mind when he thought of protecting her but in the end he was too selfish to see it through. She was his weakness and his strength. “Leaving you is not an option.” Jeff replied “Then why the hell did you bring that up.” Tami asked as a tears she didn’t even know she harboured escaped her eyes. “I just wanted you to know. You are beauty but I aint the beast Tami. I am the f*****g devil” Tami looked into his eyes and knew that he meant every word of what he just said. “But I love you. I know I will never stop.” Tami pulled him into a kiss, she held on like her life depended on it. *** Paris, the city of love. Jeff had kept true to his promise, it was like vacation. They had gone sightseeing, had romantic dates and she had woken up to saxophone and violin playing courtesy of Jeff. In addition he had made sweet love to her in every area of their room. On the bed, on the shelves, in bathroom, you name it. However today was the day, the actual reason for the trip had come to knock her back to reality. Jeff was here on business and she was here because of that. The Assassins sounded like a mafia but the difference between the mafias and the Assassins was that it was sponsored by different governments who had no idea of what they truly sponsored. Tami has learnt that bit from Jeff. The Assassins had no loyalty to any countries or its officials. Tami bit her lip as she looked into the mirror one more time. She felt so nervous, she had sworn to herself that she would not mess up this night for Jeff but it was hard not to be nervous, soon she would be in a room with the world’s top murderers. At this point she second guessed her sanity, she was meant to be scared not nervous, scared was the normal thing to be when you were about to meet world class assassins, well she was dating a world class assassin, she gave up her police job and a possible agency promotion for her world class assassin boyfriend and she loved her world class assassin boyfriend like hell notwithstanding. She sighed as she arranged her short hair into a perfect bob, accepting that somewhere deep inside of her, she was demented, thinking of the fact that he killed people for living turned her on in many ways. She had always loved to live life on the edge which is why she became a cop, and she was pretty sure that f****d up edgy part of her was what attracted her to Jeffrey in the first place. She touched up her make up and took a step back to look at herself, Jeff had picked the dress out and it complemented her body perfectly. It was a burgundy evening dress, with a high slit which she paired with silver strappy heels, silver hoops and a silver clutch. She looked into the mirror and smiled. She looked beautiful and hoped Jeff will be enthralled by her. Tami's phone began to ring as she took a seat to wait for Jeff. “Babe” She chimed as she picked up his call. “Come down stairs” Jeff replied. Tammy obeyed closing the door to the expensive hotel room and walked to the elevator. The trip down was short but it felt long, however her highlight for the evening was seeing Jeff's mouth drop as he saw step out of the elevator. He walked up to her and took her hand. “You look beautiful and breathtakingly ethereal” he kissed her forehead “I think I am dating a goddess.” “Stop, you'll clean off my make up with your lips.” Tami said smiling at him, that was no true but she did not know what to reply to the compliments. Jeff chuckled as he put his hand on the small of her back and led her outside the hotel. Tami gapped at the white limousine staring at her. He opened the door for her to step in then he followed in after her. This was expensive was her simple thought. Tammy looked from the expensive red and black decor of the limo to the bottle of champagne sitting in ice. “I got you something” Jeff said as he held out a small but wide rectangular case to her. She looked into his eyes as she took it from his hands. “What is it?” “Open it” He replied. Tami removed the blue ribbon on top and opened the case. The most beautiful diamond earrings and necklace stared back at her. She opened her mouth as she looked at them. Jeff got her presents all the time but these were just too beautiful with the perfect mood and all. “s**t I am going to cry.” Tami announced. Jeff chuckled as he pulled out his handkerchief for her to dry her tears. “You cry when I give you earrings and a necklace what will you do when I propose.” “Faint” she replied simply. Jeff laughed as he took the case from her lap, he took out the necklace first and she turned so he could place it on her neck. The diamond pendant had a blue tint to it as it rested on her skin. “Let’s go Pierre” Jeff said to the driver. “Babe isn't this all too expensive?” Tami asked as the limousine began to move. “Not really” Jeff replied finally giving her an answer to all his expenses “At least there is no strain in my pockets” he took out champagne as she changed the earrings from the hoops to the diamonds. “I make a lot from my job.” She had never really asked him how much being an assassin paid. It had never been a topic they brought up. However she figured he made enough since he stocked their house with groceries and bought her gifts often but judging by this expensive Paris vacation, he had more than enough. “Oh” Was her simple reply as he handed her the cup. She took a sip and savoured in the taste. She knew nothing about Champagne but this was lovely. Tami knew Jeff was romantic but not in a classy way. He was the kind of guy who got her take out and brought it to her office with flowers. He was the kind of guy who believed that they has to finish a movie together but a limo, champagne and slow music was new to her. “How far is the venue?” She asked “Fifty minutes tops.” Jeff replied. “Good” she took the glass from Jeff and placed it on its tray along with hers, then she brought her exposed leg out of the dress’ long slit. ”Eat me!” Jeff smiled enjoying the idea as much as its crooner. He loosened his tie and dropped it on the chair. His smile did not falter took of his jacket, undid his collar and wrist buttons then pulled the hands of his shirt to his elbow. Going on his knees he went on down on Tami, first kissing her inner thighs till he found his way to her mound covered by thin lace fabric. She was already drenched in anticipation for him. Tami sighed pleasantly as he pushed her thong to the side. This was going to be a long drive. She closed her eyes when he took her mercilessly with his lips. Waves of pleasure washed over her entire being as her body rattled with glee. Jeff knew his way around every angle and hole of her body. Throwing her head back she pushed up on him wanting more of him in her. Jeff grabbed her thighs holding her steady as his tongue thrashed at her entrance. Somehow he managed to reach a hand up to her clothed boob and squeezed causing immense bliss to ripple around her body. “Jeff” Tami moaned grabbing unto his hair as his tongue lapped her juices “Don’t stop” She pleaded as her eyes rolled to the back of her head. “Jeff” She screamed a little too loud as her o****m hit her. Jeff brought his lips to hers immediately, letting her taste herself on him. "We are here" Pierre announced, like he was unperturbed by the actions in the back. Tami pulled away from the kiss shyly. “s**t did he hear us?” “Probably” Jeff replied with a teasing chuckle and a loving glow in his features. He adored this woman. “Jeff it’s not funny.” She slapped his arm but he only laughed some more as he kissed her again. Jeff smiled as he noticed her lust filled eyes. He did not need a shrink to let him know Tami was not satisfied, she wanted more. He understood how she felt at the moment. “Let’s get fixed up.” He pronounced pulling away from her as he began to fix up his tie, after which he put on his blazer. Tami had adjusted her lipstick and was ready to get out of the car with him. ☆☆☆ The ball room was huge and beautifully decorated, it was obvious a lot of money had been put into this. It was organised so well to look like a normal party, no one would suspect it was an organised group of assassin's. Who knew the world had this many assassins anyway? Tami thought as she looked around the room. Jeff retrieved two glasses of champagne and handed her one. “For the most beautiful lady in the room.” He said with a flirtatious smile. Tami blushed as she took the glass from him and took a sip. Again she was not a champagne person but she suspected by the end of this trip she would be. The Champagne in the limo had been nice and this was equally amazing. “Jeff.” Tami turned to see Cod and Steve making their way to them. Cod was in a navy blue suit, he had no tie on as he let his top button open, and exposing his inked skin and his gold chain. A tall man walked behind him, he had the same stature as Jeff but was maybe a few inches taller, the man with Cod wore a black pants and a dark green blazer with a black tie. Steve was solo but he looked stunning in his grey three piece suit and red bow tie. The men exchanged pleasantries before they turned to give Tami compliments. In the way they talked it was obvious that they meant a lot to each other. Four men who had found family in themselves, in a world that had orphaned them. “Tami always the charmer, you look amazing.” Cod said being the typical gentle man. “Thank you, you look amazing also.” Tami replied “You look extremely beautiful Tami.” Steve said taking Tami into a full on bear hug, they played around a lot but she was in a pretty expensive gown so she kept her composure and decided to kill him later. She turned to the last man, he was tall and very charming. He took Tami’s hand and kissed it “Hello, I am Klaus.” He let go of her hand “It’s great to finally meet the woman who stole Jeff's heart. Cody does not stop gushing about you.” Cody? Tami still had a hard time remembering that was Cod's full name. “He doesn't.” Tami smiled at Cod. She wasn’t very close to Cod but he seemed to be nicest, however Steve was a play bug. Anytime they were in New York City Steve was the one who engaged her more often. Cod was better for a conversation or advice. “Well he has not told me about you” “He is my boyfriend” Cod stated “Jeff didn't tell you about the four kids struggling through the Inferos academy in other be the best at their craft.” Tami knew the story of the four kids but Cod being in a relationship was knew to her. In Cuba Cod was all over girls and guys alike, well Klaus was not in Cuba at the time. Maybe he couldn’t stay celibate? That was none of her business. She reminded herself and pushed the thoughts out of her mind. Jeff placed a hand on Tami's waist and she tried to focus on answering the guys than Jeff rubbing on her. “He did.” Tami replied, turning to Klaus “You are the fourth.” “Yes, just got out of prison six years” Klaus replied “I would have been awed if Jeff did not tell you that story. He loves it.” “Ok enough can we give the girl some space” Cod said taking Tami by the hand. “Your date is stealing my date” Jeff said to Klaus and they all chuckled as they walked to their table. The ceremony started with a toast by the European leader since it was being held in France, a European country then a performance by violinist Lindsey Sterling and the announcement of the new leaders. Jeff, Cod, Klaus and Steve were upstanding as they called the name of the leader for North America, Lucien Pedrov, his name did not sound American but maybe he had American decent. On seeing him Tami realised he was a black man with Russian decent Jeff explained. The rest of the night was for dancing and merriment. “Let’s dance.” Jeff asked Tami taking her hand and pulling her with him to the dance floor. The slow music was not her style but she allowed Jeff to lead her steps, he was good at dancing. He was good at all these high class society stuff. He thought he was rough around the edges like her well technically considering his occupation he was rougher. “Where did you learn to move like this?” Tami asked trying her hardest to keep up with him. “Essential blend in training.” Jeff replied “We were thought at the institution.” “That’s some Red Sparrow s**t right here.” Tami replied Jeff laughed “I am pretty sure I can kick Jenifer Lawrence’s ass.” “No you can’t” Tami replied “J Law in the Red Sparrow is superhuman.” “Jeffery” Tami looked up to see Mr. Lucien Pedrov making his way towards them. He was a tall mixed raced man. He was black and Russian, Pedrov sounded Russian to her. Mr. Pedrov had a shark like grin and a menacing presence that just made you want to curl up and disappear. Despite that he was a very handsome man, age had been too kind to him. In his dark blue suit he looked exceptionally dapper and like a celebrity on a red carpet. “Pedrov” Jeff smiled accepting the hug, of his mentor. He took Tami by her hand and as he introduced her to Mr. Pedrov. There was so much pride in his voice as he called her name “This is Tami Rashidi.” “The former cop.” Pedrov said looking at Tami with a flash on disapproval in his eyes at the word cop but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. “I see why you like her she is breath-taking Jeffery.” “Thank you.” Tami whispered, it was meant to be louder than it came out. “Do you mind if I steal her for a short dance?” Tammy tightened her grip on Jeff's hand indicating her disapproval of him leaving her with Pedrov. He turned to Tami with a comforting smile. “Don’t worry” Jeff whispered “I will be right there he assured her and he won't hurt you.” Tami nodded, his assurance had actually calmed her down. She let him release her hand into Pedrov's large out stretched hand. He had rough palms, tainted with scars, she couldn’t help but compare with Jeff’s. Jeff’s hands were equally strong but with less scars and the tenderness with which he held her hands was missing in Pedrov’s. “Jeffery loves you” Pedrov stated as they moved. He was also very graceful on the dance floor. Tami kept her eyes out for Jeff in the crowd and his eyes did not leave her as she danced with Pedrov. His face was the one calming thing in a room that screamed of so much bloodshed. “I love him also” Tami replied. She was still looking at Jeff. Cod and Klaus were with him now and they looked extremely angry as they spoke. Jeff looked away from them and back at Tami. ‘I will be right back.’ He mouthed towards her. She read his lips and shook her head. Tami didn’t want him leaving her alone especially with Pedrov. Pedrov spoke pulling her attention away from Jeff and back to him. “I know, my problem is not whether you love Jeffery but if you can manage.” He twirled her then continued “You are a loose end and a weakness to him. A weakness that would haunt and weaken him someday, sooner or later.” “So what are you saying Mr. Pedrov” Tami asked letting the man spin her again “I want to make Jeff Beta but he turned it down because of you.” Pedrov explained “If I die he takes over for me and you will dra...” She knew where the conversation was going and was not in the mood for a ‘leave Jeff and never come back’ bargain. “Are you married Mr. Pedrov?” Tami asked stopping the dance movements and standing at a spot as she pulled her hands out of his. She had no idea where the courage surfaced from but all of a sudden she did not feel s**t scared anymore. It was like the thought of being told to leave Jeff sparked an anger in her that brought the fearless Tami who had been a cop back to life. “Yes” A confused glare rested on his face. “Do you love your wife?” He rose his brow, his confusion had heightened into anticipation. He wanted to see where this conversation was headed so he replied “No" Tami frowned. How could someone not love a person they are married to? Pedrov noticed that his reply which was the absolute truth had thrown her of and he smirked at her but Tami was not backing down. This conversation was going to end on her terms and not his. “Do you have children?” She asked Reluctantly Pedrov replied “Yes” “Do you love them?” “Yes” “Good” Tami said as she held back her tears. Why were her tears always ready to pour? She asked herself. “I pray someone does not classify you children as weak ends because they are weak ends just like you say I am. If anyone wants to hurt you they can with them.” For a brief moment Pedrov was taken aback. For a very brief moment Tami saw humanity but it was gone as brief as it came. Pedrov smirked unperturbed by her speech now but she knew it had affected him, even killer had feeling no matter how bottled up they were.
