Philip nodded. "Murders like that can't have gone unnoticed. If he's been doing this for years, then it's safe to say there were other victims." He eyed them. "My guess is he's not killing other women to prove how much she means to him. He's killing because he's frustrated with her. With himself. He has to vent his anger somehow, and the one person he wishes to vent it out on is staying in the shadows." He sighed. "He may tell her it's because those others do not deserve to breathe the same air as her -- hell! he may tell himself that -- but, really, it's about Christiane staying as far away from him as possible."
