CHAPTER 2

The long receipt came out without pause. The total purchase was nearly one hundred thousand dollars, approved instantly without any limit. The manager's legs trembled. He immediately bowed ninety degrees, cold sweat wetting his temples. "I-I apologize, Sir! Please forgive my earlier insolence! All your ordered items will be prepared immediately!" Giselle laughed nervously, her smile suddenly stiff. "W-What card is that? Don't tell me it's stolen!" Cedric stood frozen, staring at the EDC machine with bated breath. "That's impossible... Where did you get that much money?!" Roman stepped closer to Cedric. The intimidating aura from the system made Cedric reflexively step back until he bumped into a glass shelf. "Stolen?" Roman smirked slightly. He glanced at Giselle briefly, then turned to his former boss. "This much money isn't even enough to buy your cheap pride, Cedric." "Damn you!" Cedric clenched his fists, his face flushed red with shame and anger. "Don't be arrogant! You're still just a lowly employee at my father's company! I can fire you this very second!" Just as Cedric shouted, the cellphone in his pants pocket rang loudly. Cedric hurriedly answered it with trembling hands. "Hello, Dad?" His father's angry shouting immediately exploded from the phone's speaker, heard clearly by everyone inside the boutique. "Cedric, you fool! What have you done?! A new majority shareholder who just bought 10% of Orion Corp's shares has just contacted the board of directors. He demanded you be fired this very day, and all your company facilities frozen!" The cellphone slipped from Cedric's hand, hitting the marble floor with a loud sound. The man fell to his knees, his face as pale as a corpse. He stared at Roman with wide eyes full of absolute terror. Roman adjusted the collar of his elegant new suit, then looked down at Cedric who was now limp and helpless on the floor. "I've already ordered your things at the office to be thrown into the trash. Enjoy your unemployed status, Cedric." Cedric slumped down onto the marble floor, his gaze blank. Cold sweat drenched his face. In a matter of seconds, he had lost all access to his wealth. Giselle, seeing this, immediately panicked. She wasn't a stupid woman. Her eyes shifted to stare at Roman. The man she had once insulted now stood upright, radiating an extraordinary aura of power in his luxurious suit. Without any shame, Giselle stepped forward and grabbed Roman's arm. She deliberately pressed her chest against him, putting on a pitiful face. "Roman... Darling..." Giselle's voice softened. "I'm sorry. Cedric forced me to be with him. You know I only love you, right? We can start over from the beginning." Roman stared at Giselle's hands with disgust. "Let go," Roman said coldly. Giselle held his arm tighter. "Please, Roman. I promise I will obey everything you want—" Slap! Roman swatted Giselle's hands away so hard that the woman stumbled backward. "Don't dirty my suit," Roman hissed. "You threw away a diamond to pick up trash. Don't ever show your face in front of me again, or I'll destroy you just like that bastard on the floor." Clap. Clap. Clap. The sound of slow clapping was heard from the direction of the VIP entrance. A woman with pale blonde hair stepped inside. She was wearing a black women's business suit that fit her body perfectly. Her face was extraordinarily beautiful, but her expression was as cold as ice. "President Whitmore!" The store manager immediately bowed respectfully, his body trembling. Eleanor Whitmore. CEO of Whitmore Group, a giant conglomerate in Valoria city whose value was dozens of times larger than Orion Corp. Eleanor ignored the manager. Her high heels clicked on the floor as she walked closer to Roman. "A very efficient way to destroy an enemy," Eleanor said, staring sharply at Roman. "I saw everything from outside. You bought Orion Corp shares just to fire this spoiled brat? Interesting." [Target: Eleanor Whitmore. CEO of Whitmore Group.] [Mission: Make Eleanor beg for your help. Dominate the conversation.] Roman returned the woman's gaze without blinking. "I don't like wasting time. And you, Miss Whitmore? You couldn't have come here just to praise my performance. What do you want?" Eleanor folded her arms across her chest. "I like men who are to the point. Whitmore Group is preparing to acquire Orion Corp. Since you now hold ten percent of its shares, sell them to me. I'll pay double the market price." Roman laughed softly. Thanks to the Business Analysis Skill from the System, rows of Whitmore Group's financial data immediately appeared before his eyes. "Double?" Roman stepped forward, closing the distance until his face was only a few inches away from Eleanor's face. Eleanor was surprised, but her ego refused to back down. "You dare to offer me pocket change, while your Whitmore Group is dying?" Roman whispered. Eleanor's eyes widened. Her calm demeanor instantly wavered. "What do you mean?" "The North Port Project," Roman answered point-blank. "Your suppliers are withholding materials, your corporate treasury is empty, and the board of directors is ready to kick you out of the CEO seat at the end of this month. You don't need my shares. You need an injection of fresh funds as soon as possible to save your own neck." Eleanor turned pale. That information was highly classified. Even her personal assistant didn't know. "H-How could you know?" Eleanor's voice trembled. Roman smiled cynically. He took one step back, taking full control. "Change your tone, Miss Whitmore. You are not negotiating with your subordinate," Roman ordered with a suffocatingly dominant aura. "Take me to your office right now. Let's discuss what you must surrender to me, so that I would be willing to save your company." Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the soundproof CEO office of Whitmore Tower. As soon as the double doors closed tightly, Roman immediately cornered the deal. He demanded the CEO's absolute surrender in exchange for one hundred million dollars in cash to cover the company's treasury. Eleanor swallowed hard. Her face flushed red all the way to her neck. "Y-You want to do it here? Right now?" "Lock the door, Eleanor," Roman repeated coldly. "Or should I take back my one hundred million dollars?"
