"We're breaking up, Roman. I'm sick of living in poverty with you."
Giselle's voice sounded flat, piercing through the falling rain of Valoria city. The woman stood sheltered under an expensive black umbrella, leaning affectionately against the chest of a man in a gray suit. Her tight red dress clearly accentuated the curves of her body.
"Three years, Giselle? You're throwing me away for this bastard?" Roman stared at his ex with a hardened jaw.
"Bastard?" Cedric laughed loudly. He rubbed Giselle's hip openly, squeezing it slightly until the woman let out a soft moan. "This bastard is the one who just bought her a ten thousand dollar diamond necklace. You? You often fall behind just paying rent for your apartment in the slum district."
Giselle folded her arms across her chest, looking at Roman with a disgusted gaze. "Wake up, Roman. Love can't buy designer bags. Cedric can give me everything. Tonight, I'm going to sleep in his penthouse. Not in your cramped, musty-smelling room."
"You're just going to be his toy, Giselle," Roman retorted sharply.
"And she's a very great toy," Cedric interrupted. His hand now moved up to grope the nape of Giselle's neck, pulling the woman in and kissing her neck right in front of Roman. Giselle giggled in delight. "Hear that, loser? Your woman is mine now. Her body is much more useful in my bed than with you."
Cedric reached into his wallet. He pulled out a few fifty-dollar bills, crumpled them, and threw them into a puddle of water right in front of Roman's worn-out shoes.
"Take it. Go buy some cheap beer. Just consider it a tip because you've been taking care of her all this time before I get to taste her tonight."
"Let's go, darling, the air here smells like poverty," Giselle said.
The two of them got into a parked black Maserati. The engine roared, and then the car sped off, splashing muddy water onto Roman's pants.
Roman stood stiffly. His pride was completely shattered. He stepped back with a blank stare, paying no attention to the road behind him.
HONKKK!
The blaring horn of a cargo truck pierced the night. Roman was too late to turn his head. The iron snout of the truck slammed squarely into his body.
Crash!
Roman's body was thrown dozens of meters and slammed against the asphalt. Fresh blood immediately flowed from his head, mixing with the rainwater. His vision darkened. The pain crushed all his bones.
Just as his consciousness was about to snap, an emotionless mechanical voice echoed inside his head.
[Warning: Host's heart rate is below the critical limit.]
[Absolute Domination System... Activated.]
Roman gasped. Time seemed to stop. The pain in his body suddenly vanished. His broken bones reconnected, and his muscles bulged, feeling much denser.
[Scanning Host...]
[Qualifications Met: Betrayed, Poor, Humiliated.]
[This system is designed to provide money, power, and absolute domination. Women and thrones are trophies for the strongest.]
A blue holographic screen appeared in front of Roman's face. He slowly stood up. The cold asphalt could no longer be felt. His normally blurry vision was now as sharp as an eagle's.
[Starter Pack Distribution:]
[1. Alpha Physique: Max (Stamina, Charisma, and Physical Strength drastically increased).]
[2. Valoria Central Bank Black Card: Synchronized. Funds are legal and untraceable.]
The worn-out cellphone in Roman's pocket vibrated. He reached for it. There was an incoming text message from the Valoria city central bank.
[Valoria Central Bank: Incoming transfer of $50,000,000 (Fifty Million Dollars) successful. Your balance is ready to use.]
Roman's breath hitched. Fifty million dollars in cash.
The holographic screen in front of him blinked again.
[First Mission: Revenge.]
[Target: Make Cedric kneel and destroy Giselle's pride in public.]
[Time Limit: 24 Hours.]
[Reward: 10% Shares of Cedric's family's 'Orion Corp' + Business Analysis Skill.]
[Penalty for failure: System revoked, Host dies instantly.]
Roman put his cellphone back into his pocket. He wiped the remaining blood from his forehead. His body was now perfectly upright, emitting a very dangerous predatory aura. He glanced in the direction the Maserati had gone.
"Twenty-four hours?" Roman muttered coldly. A cynical smile slowly formed on his lips. "Too long. Tonight, I will make the two of them crawl and beg at my feet."
"Open the door. Or I'll call security to throw you out."
The voice of the Aven luxury boutique manager sounded sharp.
Roman ignored him. He stood in front of the glass display, staring at the sharply cut black wool suit on display there. The physical enhancement from the system made his posture look perfect. The worn-out shirt he wore no longer looked pathetic; his sturdy body and aura made the suit appear to fit perfectly as soon as he put it on.
"I'm serious, young man. This store is exclusively for nobles and Orion Corp executives. This place is not for a tramp like you," snapped the manager, stepping closer with a disgusted face.
Suddenly, a familiar laughing voice was heard from the store's VIP corner.
"Roman? Goodness, what are you doing here, loser?" Giselle walked closer, holding onto Cedric's arm. The woman was wearing a thousand-dollar evening gown that Cedric had just bought her. "Don't tell me you followed us here?"
Cedric sneered, looking Roman up and down while adjusting his expensive suit. "He must want to beg, Giselle. Hey, Roman, if you survived the accident last night, you should have immediately looked for a job, not ended up in a VVIP boutique."
"Just leave him be, Cedric. He really has no shame," Giselle snorted, tightening her embrace on Cedric's arm. "Darling, I want that limited edition bag. The price is only fifty thousand dollars. Buy it for me, okay?"
Cedric suddenly gave a small cough. His credit card limit from his father for this month was almost depleted. He smiled stiffly. "Ahem, of course, Darling. But let's order it first, I'll buy it for you next week."
Roman turned his head slowly. His gaze was incredibly cold. "There is no need to wait until next week. Wrap up that bag, and prepare three of the best suits in my size right now."
Giselle laughed out loud. "You're crazy, Roman! Fifty thousand dollars for a bag and tens of thousands for suits? You even have to pay your apartment rent in installments!"
"Manager, kick this beggar out right now!" Cedric ordered furiously.
Roman didn't answer. He took the Black Card out of his pocket and casually tossed it onto the cashier's counter.
"Swipe it," Roman said flatly.
The manager snorted dismissively, then took the card with the gold logo and swiped it into the EDC machine. However, a second later, the color drained from the manager's face. His eyes widened as he read the machine's screen.
