The next Day
Roxance went to see the guys in Garv’s House
“So, what’s the update lil sis?” Max asked
“My Mom stopped Drew from going to school and collected all the cards I gave him” Roxy replied dropping her bag on the couch.
“Wow, your, Mom is kind” Brax said
“She thinks I still like him”
“Then, why didn’t you tell her?” Hunter asked
“I don’t want them to leave the house yet, if my Mom finds out I don’t like him anymore, she will send them out immediately” Roxy replied
“Oh! So, what’s the next step?” Hunter asked again
“From their conversation last night, they are going into plan B” Roxy replied
“And what’s Plan B?” Cayden asked
“It’s not clear but I think they are after our company’s shares because Drew mentioned that it will be easier to take my mom’s share in the company now that she’s back” Roxy replied
“And how exactly going to collect the shares for the other shareholders?” Garv asked
“The other shareholders are men! Sarah is going to seduce them!” Roxy exclaimed after she connected the dots
“No way!” Max exclaimed
“I think she starts today, we need to spy on her and get videos” Roxy said
“I will contact my dad’s spy” Hunter said
“Your dad has a spy?” they all asked together
“Come on guys, we deal with petroleum and others why won’t we have a spy” Hunter said
“I will send Sarah’s picture to you to show him and I will find her current location immediately” Roxy said and Hunter nodded as he went to make the call at a corner.
****************************************************************************
The amber light of the Gilded Lounge caught the condensation on Sarah’s glass, turning her drink into a liquid topaz. She didn't like Scotch—it tasted like peat and expensive dirt—but it was the preferred perfume of the room’s occupants.
Across the velvet booth sat Arthur Sterling, a man whose skin had the texture of a well-worn leather briefcase.
"You have an unusual grasp of maritime law for someone so… vibrant, Sarah," Arthur chuckled, his hand hovering dangerously close to hers.
Sarah offered a smile that didn't reach her eyes, though she made sure it looked dazzling under the dim chandeliers. "A girl has to have hobbies, Arthur. Some people collect vintage cars. I collect possibilities."
She leaned in, the scent of her perfume—something sharp, floral, and strategically distracting—cutting through his alcoholic haze. From her clutch, she produced a slim digital tablet, its screen already glowing with a transfer agreement.
"You mentioned earlier that the board was stifling your 'creative vision' regarding the South China Sea routes," she purred, her voice a low, melodic velvet. "I think you deserve more freedom. If you move those legacy shares into my hand, I become your proxy. I vote exactly how you tell me to, and you finally get the majority leverage you need to silence the noise."
Arthur squinted at the screen. In his inebriated state, the math looked like salvation. In reality, the fine print contained an ironclad clawback clause that would strip him of his remaining equity if the company’s quarterly growth dipped by even a fraction—a dip Sarah had already engineered through a series of anonymous short-sells.
"You'd do that for me?" Arthur slurred, reaching for the stylus.
"I like to see powerful men get what they deserve," Elena said, her voice dripping with a sincerity that was technically true.
With a shaky hand, he signed. A haptic vibration confirmed the transfer. Millions of dollars in voting power slid into her account like a silent ghost.
Sarah stood up, smoothing her silk dress. The "fun" part of her evening was over; the business part was just beginning.
"Where are you going? The night is young," Arthur protested, his face flushed.
"To check on our investments, Arthur," she said, already signaling for her coat. "Rest up. Tomorrow is going to be a very big day for both of us."
As she walked out of the club, the cold night air felt better than any drink. She didn't look back at the old man at the table; she was already looking at the skyline, mentally rearranging the logos on the buildings.
