The door closed behind Amadee, and none of the three felt the need to immediately reach for the pack. Instead, they glared between each other completely at a loss. “Is she ransoming us for a place in our party?” Lateef asked, still in disbelief. “She’s nuts,” Sprinkle reiterated. “I been sayin’.” “Are we going to take her offer? I do not immediately see an alternative if I have to be honest,” Borislava said. “I hope so,” said a fifth voice. The four flinched together, and turned towards the door to find the source of the new voice. They witnessed as the pack Amadee had brought, supposedly containing food, moved. It turned and fell on its front. “Oof,” squealed a voice in protest. “Will someone open this thing? Hello?” “The backpack is talking,” Lateef remarked. Borislava scoffed.
