Chapter 0003
Zoomed out of a crystal designed necklace, a gem studded lace gown flowed decently around Mariel. Delicately, she motioned with the company of her father who had her arm wrapped around his.
Her beautiful face glowed, radiant and beautiful.
Mariel arrived at the altar where her groom stood, ever dashing in his tailored tuxedo, eyes pinned at her with a creepy deviousness masked with delight.
The hired priest began the service, in order,
“I do,” Mariel’s voice sounded forced, but her face reflected a different feeling.
“I do,” Halvard responded with keen enthusiasm.
They proceeded to exchange rings, then read their vows before sharing a long kiss in front of the guests.
Halvard lay out his palm for Mariel to take as he stepped off the altar in attempt to exit the venue. A creepy smirk glued to his lips, not the least convincing of whatever his plans were for her.
Hesitantly, she later dropped her hand into his palm as he firmed his grip on her. Then suddenly, he swirled her closer as she cradled into his body.
His hand went behind to guide her back as he dropped her hand to use the other on her knees. He swept her off her feet in front of everyone, broke into a straight run out of the venue, and only stopped when he’s arrived at a waiting car parked right outside the venue’s mansion.
Once Mariel was settled in with her husband squeezed into the space right next to her. “Where are we headed?” She asked, her tone cold and eyes anywhere but on her husband.
A chuckle broke out of Halvard. He’s amused by her aloofness rather than upset with it, he wondered for how long she’d be like that towards him. How long it’d take for her to break her ice.
“It’s our wedding night, would you wanna spend it in your father’s house or someone I’ve picked out for us to be memorable?” Hal responded after a brief silence to simply study his wife.
He had no idea what it was he saw in her, what it was that fascinated him about her. All he knew was that he took the chance to have her as his when he could, and now he’s rewarded with a lifetime of her presence.
Mariel didn’t ask any more questions, even went on to ignore Hal’s attempt to make conversations with her.
All that was going through her head was how this was never her plan. What she saw in her future. None of this is!
With how hard she’s studied, she thought she’d ace her exams and get into college. Study medicine, and become a medical doctor like she’s dreamt to be.
She never thought that a day would come where her dreams would set sail only to sink before she could reach the shore of her destination.
He ruined her life. He sank her ship. It was him. And to him, this is just fun and nothing more. But to her, he’s destroyed everything she’s worked so hard for.
And she’d be damned not to make him pay!
Their driver finally pulled into a parking space. This forced Mariel out of her thoughts, she glanced at her side and saw that her husband already stepped out, palm stretched out at the door to collect her hand and aid her alignment.
Mariel slapped away his palm as she got down on her room, she looked around and was quick to deduce their location.
He’s brought them to the most expensive hotel in town. Rich in sight, classy in treatment, and expensive to enjoy.
Mariel kept her gasp shut to her head as she inspected the extravagance on their way inside. Her amazement grew broader at the interior, it was like that for her till they arrived at their reserved suite.
A sigh broke through Mariel lips, followed by an all round degree look as they stepped into the luxurious presidential suite booked for their night.
She couldn’t believe her eyes. She’s never tasted or been in this much money before, never!
Her father was okay, rich in a certain sense. However, her husband might just be on another level. This reminded her of her sister’s words, that he was some heir to some rich family in the city.
That his wealth was an ocean compare to theirs cause-
“I feel like I deserve some credit, you look like you’ll enjoy your night here,” Hal’s playful voice creaked into Mariel’s ears to remind her that she wasn’t alone in the room or would be for the whole of the night.
A more frustrated sigh escaped her lips as she walked over to the well seat and dressed king sized bed to take a seat.
Then suddenly she heard the sound of a running faucet, coming from the restroom directly adjacent the room.
“Oh yeah I forgot to inform you about our guest,” Hal spoke up in smiles, “Silly me. Thing was she couldn’t come to the wedding cause she wasn’t invited, but I really want the both of you to meet so she’s was to wait here for us to come.”
Mariel still wasn’t making any sense of Hal’s explanation until the door opened to the restroom pulled opened, spilling out a tall and petite lady who’s either her age or a few years older than her. She was beautiful, paled skin, and on a ponytail.
“Wifey, this is Sonia. My girlfriend. Sonia babe, that’s the wife, her name is-“ Halvard paused as his index lifted to tap on his cheek while his eyes rolled up into a thoughtful expression.
“You know she told me during our introduction, and I still heard it awhile back during our wedding service, but somehow I’ve forgotten?” He broke into a laugh following his ridiculous realization.
“Girlfriend?” Mariel sat up from the bed she has comfortably settled on, her brows furrowed with disbelief as her eyes kept pace on the strange girl and her husband.
Did her husband just introduce a mistress to her on their wedding night?
“Yeah, you heard me right. Sonia is my girlfriend, and I want you to meet her so you both can get to know each other for us to avoid issues in future.”
“Are you sick in the head?” Mariel was livid, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing let alone believe her ears. Could he ear himself right now?
“Woah you don’t have to be rude. This is not in anyway to get you upset,” Halvard tried to defend himself.
“Yes, I just wanted to meet you and get to know you better,” The Sonia lady spoke in support of Halvard.
Mariel’s rage only grew thicker and stronger. “Girl do you lack shame or you were born seriously senseless?” She couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth.
“You.” Mariel focused her gaze on her husband, “How dare you bring a woman to meet me on the day of our wedding? Have you no shame? No respect?!” Her voice was starting to rise, a match to the anger that slowly eats at her system.
“Enough!” Halvard’s demeanor switched swiftly from calm to an intense appearance. “Our marriage is not genuine or romantic, it’s a sham marriage and we both know that,” he began to explain.
“Yes. Hal would have been exiled if he didn’t agree to marry anyone soon so he really had to marry, and I was told you were also forced into this marriage?” Sonia added.
Mariel boiled from where she stood, she badly wanted to move over and slap the heck out of her husband. Even slap the rubbish out of his mistress additionally.
Then she realizes that there was nothing stopping her so she stormed over to Hal, raised her hand to slap him but was shocked when her hand hung still in the air and never made it onto his face.
“You wouldn’t dare!” Hal’s eyes had grown cold, immensely vacant as he stared down deep into Mariel’s eyes daringly.
There was darkness in his eyes, but Mariel’s anger wouldn’t let her see through it and be scared of it. She wriggled her hand out of his hold and before he could adjust himself got smacked real hard in the face by Mariel.
“How dare you?” Mariel matched the tension in his gaze with the ferocity in hers. She was ready to rain down hell.
“Get out!” She looked at the mistress as she instructed.
“What? You can’t-“
“Get the hell out before I pounce on you!” Mariel screamed into her face.
Sonia fell into panic as she looked at the monstrous face of Hal staring down at Mariel before she triggered into motion rushed out of the room.
Now it was Mariel and Halvard left, to the heavy weight of the moment’s fury.
“You dare lay your filthy hands on me? You’ll pay dearly for that!” Halvard threatened, his tone ice cold, and his threat ever serious.
“You ruined my life, and you think yours is about to remain the same?” A smirk finally pulled onto Mariel’s face as she moved her arms to cross over her chest. “Congratulations, you got married to your nightmare!”
“You think marrying you destroyed your life?” Halvard countered her question, “Well watch me ruin your life to nothing! I’ll make you regret your life, I promise!”
“Game on, brat!”
Daggers flew around in form of the matching glare they leveled at each other.
