I held the tray tightly, my fingers gripping the edges as I made my way toward the Lycan King’s chambers. My heart pounded with each step, my breaths shallow. The weight of the other maids' stares pressed down on me like an unbearable burden. Their whispers weren’t new, nor was the jealousy laced in their gazes. “She’s getting special treatment,” one muttered. “She must have done something to get the King’s attention,” another sneered.
