Chapter 21: The Unexpected Message

412 Words
A few days passed peacefully after Amara and Daniel’s talk by the lake. Their friendship—and now their growing relationship—felt stronger again. They spent time studying together in the library, sharing quiet walks across campus, and sometimes meeting at the café for short breaks between classes. One afternoon, Amara sat at a table in the library, writing notes for her literature assignment. The room was quiet except for the soft turning of pages and the faint tapping of keyboards. Her phone suddenly vibrated beside her notebook. She glanced at the screen. It was a message from an unknown number. For a moment, she hesitated before opening it. The message read: “If you really want to know the truth about Daniel, meet me after class near the old campus garden.” Amara frowned. The truth about Daniel? Her mind quickly began filling with questions. Who had sent the message? And what truth were they talking about? She looked around the library as if the person who sent the message might be nearby, but everyone seemed busy with their own work. Just then, Daniel walked into the library. When he spotted Amara, he smiled and walked over to her table. “Hey,” he said softly. Amara quickly locked her phone screen. “Hi.” Daniel sat down across from her. “How’s your assignment going?” he asked. “It’s… going okay,” she replied. But Daniel noticed something in her expression. “You look worried,” he said. Amara forced a small smile. “It’s nothing.” Daniel studied her face for a moment but didn’t push further. “Well,” he said, “I just came to tell you that I have a meeting with my project group later today.” Amara nodded. “Okay.” They talked for a few more minutes before Daniel left the library again. Once he was gone, Amara slowly looked at her phone. The message was still there. Her heart beat faster. Part of her wanted to ignore it completely. But another part of her couldn’t stop wondering what it meant. Finally, she made a decision. After class, she would go to the old campus garden and find out who sent the message. Because sometimes the only way to understand the truth… was to face it directly. But deep inside, Amara had a strange feeling. Whatever she was about to discover might change everything she thought she knew about Daniel. 📖💔
