The next morning felt unusually quiet for Amara.
She woke up early but didn’t feel the usual excitement of starting her day. Instead, Emily’s words from the garden still lingered in her mind.
Amara sat on the edge of her bed for a moment, staring out the window at the bright morning sky.
Maybe I should just talk to Daniel about it, she thought.
But another part of her hesitated.
What if Emily is right?
She sighed softly and prepared for her classes.

Later that day, the campus courtyard was busy with students walking between buildings. Amara walked toward the library with her books in her arms.
As she turned a corner, she suddenly saw Daniel standing near the entrance.
He looked relieved when he spotted her.
“Amara!” he called.
She stopped walking.
“Hi,” she said quietly.
Daniel walked closer.
“I was looking for you yesterday,” he said. “You seemed upset.”
Amara forced a small smile.
“I told you, I was just tired.”
Daniel studied her face carefully.
“You don’t seem tired today,” he replied gently. “You seem… distant.”
Amara looked away.
“I’m just thinking about some things.”
Daniel stepped closer.
“Are those things about us?”
The question made her pause.
She didn’t want to lie, but she also didn’t know how to explain everything.
“Maybe,” she admitted softly.
Daniel sighed.
“Did I do something wrong?”
Amara quickly shook her head.
“No.”
“Then what is it?” he asked.
Amara hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“Do you ever feel like you’re chasing your dreams so much that you might forget the people around you?”
Daniel looked surprised by the question.
“Why would you ask that?”
Amara didn’t answer directly.
“I’m just curious.”
Daniel thought for a moment before responding.
“My dreams are important to me,” he said honestly. “But that doesn’t mean I would ignore the people I care about.”
Amara nodded slowly.
“I hope that’s true.”
Daniel frowned slightly.
“Amara… where is this coming from?”
She hesitated again.
Part of her wanted to tell him about the conversation with Emily.
But she wasn’t sure if it would make things worse.
“It’s nothing,” she finally said.
Daniel didn’t seem convinced.
But before he could ask another question, Amara checked the time on her phone.
“I have to go to class,” she said quickly.
Then she walked away before he could respond.
Daniel stood there watching her leave.
Something was definitely wrong.
He could feel the distance growing between them, even though he didn’t know why.
And for the first time since their relationship had begun, he feared that something—or someone—might be pulling Amara away from him. 💔📖
