The weeks passed quickly.
Before Amara could fully prepare herself, the day Daniel had to leave for the training program finally arrived.
The morning air was cool as students moved around the campus bus station. A small group had gathered to say goodbye to those leaving for the architecture program.
Suitcases rested on the ground beside the bus.
Daniel stood near the entrance, talking with a few classmates who had also been selected. Even though he tried to stay calm, excitement and nervousness were clear on his face.
Across the station, Amara slowly walked toward him.
Her heart felt heavy.
She knew this moment was coming, but it still felt harder than she expected.
When Daniel saw her, his face brightened immediately.
“Amara,” he said softly.
“Hi,” she replied.
For a moment, they simply looked at each other.
The noise of people talking and the sound of the bus engine filled the background.
Daniel picked up his bag and placed it inside the luggage compartment before returning to stand in front of her.
“I can’t believe I’m actually leaving today,” he said.
Amara nodded.
“It still feels unreal.”
Daniel looked at her carefully.
“You’re going to be okay while I’m gone, right?”
Amara smiled gently.
“I should be asking you that.”
Daniel laughed quietly.
“I’ll miss you.”
The words were simple, but they carried a lot of emotion.
“I’ll miss you too,” Amara said.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Daniel reached out and held her hands.
“Amara, this is only for a few months,” he said. “We’ll talk every day.”
Amara nodded, though she knew long-distance relationships were not always easy.
“I know.”
Just then, the bus driver called out.
“All passengers for the architecture training program, please get on the bus!”
The moment had arrived.
Daniel took a deep breath.
“I guess that’s my cue.”
Amara felt her chest tighten slightly.
Daniel hugged her warmly.
“I promise this won’t change how I feel about you,” he whispered.
Amara held onto him for a moment before letting go.
“I’ll be waiting,” she said softly.
Daniel smiled one last time before walking toward the bus.
As he climbed the steps, he turned back and waved.
Amara waved back.
Then the bus doors closed.
Slowly, the vehicle pulled away from the station.
Amara stood there watching until it disappeared from sight.
But she didn’t notice someone standing nearby, watching the same bus leave.
Emily.
And as the bus carried Daniel toward a new chapter of his life, Amara couldn’t help wondering whether their love would remain strong—or begin to fade with the distance. 💔📖
