When Benjamin flees a toxic relationship in Kampala, he returns to Look Seed Secondary School seeking quiet. Instead, he finds Nia, an art student who challenges him to face his past, and a brotherhood that teaches him how to heal.
Act I: The Breaking
BENJAMIN, 20s, ends things with CAROL in a rainy Kampala café after realizing she chose fear over honesty. With nowhere else to go, he runs through the city at night and returns to his old boarding school, Riverstone High. His 5 closest friends — ALVIN, ALAN, WILSON, JOHNATHAN, and SIMON, “The Bwaaj” — welcome him without questions. He’s safe, but still broken.
Act II: The Staying.
At Riverstone, Benjamin meets NIA, 17, a focused art student who paints Lake Victoria every day. She doesn’t care about his past. She only tells him: “If you’re going to stay, move two steps left.” Slowly, through shared brushes, late-night talks, and quiet moments by the river, trust builds.
Around them, the school becomes a place of small healings: Alan learns patience from teacher JEZEBEL. Alvin practices respect with JANIFER. Wilson keeps nurse JESAH company on night shift. Jonathan returns a lost book to PATRICIA. Simon lets CATRINA into his writing.
When a photo of Benjamin and Carol surfaces on the notice board, Nia pulls back. Benjamin chooses truth over shame and follows her to the art room: “That was my past. Not you.” Nia gives him a brush. “If you’re staying, you’re part of this too.”
Act III: The Healing
Benjamin and Nia begin to paint side by side — scared, but together. He gives her worn charcoal and promises time, not gifts. She accepts: “One stick at a time.” The Bwaaj protect their quiet bond. Through rain, football benches, library sketches, and riverbank talks, Benjamin learns that healing isn’t an ending. It’s choosing to stay, daily.
One year later, as a new term begins, Benjamin and Nia stand at the school gate with their 13 friends. No grand speech. Just the same choice: to stay. To build. Together.
FADE OUT.
